First Record of Forcipomyia (Lasiohelea) Kieffer (Diptera: Ceratopogonidae) in Uruguay.

During an insect surveillance in the Santa Lucía Wetlands, Montevideo, it was captured three specimens of Forcipomyia (Lasiohelea) stylifera (Lutz), being the first record for this subgenus from Uruguay. Lasiohelea comprise species of veterinary and medical concern, due to the hematophagous feeding nature of adult females, which cause diverse degrees of nuisance on humans and animals. In the last decade, suspicion was raised involving this taxon in the transmission of Leishmania parasites, but there is still no conclusive evidence.

A new species of Laurenceomyia Wagner Stuckenberg, with a key to species and new records for Psychodidae (Diptera) from Uruguay.

A species list and a key to species of Psychodidae (Diptera, Nematocera) from Uruguay is presented, with the description of Laurenceomyia martinezae sp. nov., and first records of Brumptomyia guimaraesi (Coutinho Barreto), Nyssomyia neivai (Pinto), Paramormia furcata (Kincaid), Psychoda savaiiensis Edwards, Psychoda zetoscota Quate, and Trichomyia Haliday in Curtis.

Autochthonous Outbreak and Expansion of Canine Visceral Leishmaniasis, Uruguay.

We report an outbreak of canine visceral leishmaniasis in Uruguay. Blood specimens from 11/45 dogs tested positive for Leishmania spp. Specimens of Lutzomyia longipalpis sand flies were captured; typing revealed Leishmania infantum.
