Physician development through interprofessional workplace interactions: A critical review.

Introduction: Increasingly, medical training aims to develop physicians who are competent collaborators. Although interprofessional interactions are inevitable elements of medical trainees' workplace learning experiences, the existing literature lacks a cohesive model to conceptualise the learning potential residing in these interactions.

Methods: We conducted a critical review of the health professions and related educational literatures to generate an empirically and theoretically informed description of medical trainees' workplace interactions with other health professionals, including learning mechanisms and outcomes.

In healthcare, effective communication in complex situations such as end of life conversations is critical for delivering high quality care. Whether residents learn from communication training with actors depends on whether they are able to select appropriate information or 'predictive cues' from that learning situation that accurately reflect their or their peers' performance and whether they use those cues for ensuing judgement. This study aimed to explore whether prompts can help medical residents improving use of predictive cues and judgement of communication skills.

Promotion of self-regulated learning through internalization of critical thinking, assessment and reflection to empower learning (iCARE): A quasi-experimental study.

Background: Self-Regulated Learning (SRL) is key in developing healthcare professionals and lifelong learner. iCARE (internalization of Critical thinking, Assessment, Reflection to Empower learning) model was designed to enhance nursing students' SRL.

Aim: This study investigated the effects of iCARE on nursing students' reflective practice, SRL, self-efficacy and skill performance as compared to conventional group reflection.

Masquerade of an emergency: cardiac tamponade as a deceptive presentation of primary cardiac diffuse large b-cell lymphoma-a case report.

Background: Primary cardiac diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (CDLBCL) is an exceptionally rare entity, estimated to represent less than 1% of all primary cardiac tumours. In this case report, we emphasize the diagnostic importance of multimodality imaging and the need for additional procedures, such as tissue biopsy, in a case with a primary cardiac lymphoma presenting with cardiac tamponade.

GDM-related MASLD predisposes to advanced liver disease, necessitating a better understanding of its development in GDM. This preclinical study evaluated the MASLD development in a lean GDM mouse model with impaired insulin secretion capacity.

Species-specific emergence of H7 highly pathogenic avian influenza virus is driven by intrahost selection differences between chickens and ducks.

Highly pathogenic avian influenza viruses (HPAIVs) cause severe hemorrhagic disease in terrestrial poultry and are a threat to the poultry industry, wild life, and human health. HPAIVs arise from low pathogenic avian influenza viruses (LPAIVs), which circulate in wild aquatic birds. HPAIV emergence is thought to occur in poultry and not wild aquatic birds, but the reason for this species-restriction is not known.

We examined how bilinguals process language switches between their first (L1) and second language (L2). Language switching costs (slower responses to language switch than nonswitch trials) appear to arise more systematically in production than in comprehension, possibly because the latter context might sometimes elicit less language coactivation (Declerck et al., 2019).

In this writing, I summarize the insights from my keynote lecture at the annual 2023 IAMSE Meeting in Cancún, Mexico, titled "Effort is the new smart. Supporting students in the self-regulated use of desirable difficulties." I explain how self-regulated learning is challenging for many students in higher education and even more so under learning conditions that create desirable difficulties: conditions that foster long-term learning and transfer of knowledge and skills, but that are generally more effortful to engage in.

The Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome protein and SCAR homolog (WASH) complex is a pentameric protein complex localized at endosomes, where it facilitates the transport of numerous receptors from endosomes toward the plasma membrane.
