Background And Objectives: The number of family medicine positions unfilled in the Main Match has increased from 2019 to 2023. In the 2023-2024 family medicine application season, the specialty adopted the changes in the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS or MyERAS), which included geographic preferences and offered applicants five program signals. We compared the number of unfilled positions from prior years to results of the 2024 family medicine Match after the adoption of these changes.

Background: Neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs) can cause debilitating impairments in social cognition and aberrant functional connectivity in large-scale brain networks, leading to social isolation and diminished everyday functioning. To facilitate the treatment of social impairments, animal models of NDDs that link N- methyl-D-aspartate receptor (NMDAR) hypofunction to social deficits in adulthood have been used. However, understanding the etiology of social impairments in NDDs requires investigating social changes during sensitive windows during development.

The ARRIVE guidelines outline documentation standards for laboratory animals in experiments, but genetic information is often incomplete. To remedy this, we propose the Laboratory Animal Genetic Reporting (LAG-R) framework.

The effect of 30-day adequate transitions of acute stroke care on 90-day readmission or death.

Objectives: We explore patient-reported behaviors and activities within 30-days post-stroke hospitalization and their role in reducing death or readmissions within 90-days post-stroke.

Methods: We constructed the adequate transitions of care (ATOC) composite score, measuring patient-reported participation in eligible behaviors and activities (diet modification, weekly exercise, follow-up medical appointment attendance, medication adherence, therapy use, and toxic habit cessation) within 30 days post-stroke hospital discharge. We analyzed ATOC scores in ischemic and intracerebral hemorrhage stroke patients discharged from the hospital to home or rehabilitation facilities and enrolled in the NIH-funded Transitions of Care Stroke Disparities Study (TCSD-S).

Effects of different slopes on hip and ankle biomechanics of replaced and non-replaced limbs of patients with total knee arthroplasty during incline ramp walking.

Although knee biomechanics has been examined, hip and ankle biomechanics in incline ramp walking has not been explored for patients with total knee arthroplasty (TKA). The purpose of this study was to investigate the hip and ankle joint kinematic and kinetic biomechanics of different incline slopes for replaced limbs and non-replaced limbs in individuals with TKA compared to healthy controls. Twenty-five patients with TKR and ten healthy controls performed walking trials on four slope conditions of level (0°), 5°, 10° and 15° on a customized instrumented ramp system.

Objectives: To evaluate potential airborne asbestos exposures during brake maintenance and repair activities on a P&H overhead crane, and during subsequent handling of the mechanic's clothing.

Methods: Personal ( = 27) and area ( = 61) airborne fiber concentrations were measured during brake tests, removal, hand sanding, compressed air use, removal and reattachment of chrysotile-containing brake linings, and reinstallation of the brake linings. The mechanic's clothing was used to measure potential exposure during clothes handling.

Heavy alcohol drinking is a major, preventable problem that adversely impacts the physical and mental health of US young adults. Studies seeking drinking risk factors typically focus on young adults who enrolled in 4-year residential college programs (4YCP) even though most high school graduates join the workforce, military, or community colleges. We examined 106 of these understudied young adults (USYA) and 453 4YCPs from the National Consortium on Alcohol and NeuroDevelopment in Adolescence (NCANDA) by longitudinally following their drinking patterns for 8 years from adolescence to young adulthood.

Spatial and temporal patterns of future coral bleaching are uncertain, hampering global conservation efforts to protect coral reefs against climate change. Our analysis of daily projections of ocean warming establishes the severity, annual duration, and onset of severe bleaching risk for global coral reefs this century, pinpointing vital climatic refugia. We show that low-latitude coral regions are most vulnerable to thermal stress and will experience little reprieve from climate mitigation.
