Aims: This qualitative study aimed to develop the first cognitive behavioural (CBT) model outlining the development and maintenance of disordered eating in adult men living with Type 1 diabetes to improve on previous theoretical models of Type 1 diabetes and disordered eating and to draw comparisons to women with Type 1 diabetes and disordered eating.

Methods: Twenty-seven men (n = 16 with Type 1 diabetes and disordered eating, n = 11 with Type 1 diabetes without disordered eating) participated in semi-structured interviews. Data were analysed using thematic analysis and individual CBT formulations were developed for each participant to inform the model.

Background: Quantifying contributions of environmental faecal contamination to child diarrhoea and growth faltering can illuminate causal mechanisms behind modest health benefits in recent water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) trials. We aimed to assess associations between environmental detection of enteropathogens and human or animal microbial source tracking markers (MSTM) and subsequent child health outcomes.

Methods: In this individual participant data meta-analysis we searched we searched PubMed, Embase, CAB Direct Global Health, Agricultural and Environmental Science Database, Web of Science, and Scopus for WASH intervention studies with a prospective design and concurrent control that measured enteropathogens or MSTM in environmental samples, or both, and subsequently measured enteric infections, diarrhoea, or height-for-age Z-scores (HAZ) in children younger than 5 years.

The decay-time-dependent CP asymmetry in B_{s}^{0}→J/ψ(→μ^{+}μ^{-})K^{+}K^{-} decays is measured using proton-proton collision data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 6  fb^{-1}, collected with the LHCb detector at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. Using a sample of approximately 349 000 B_{s}^{0} signal decays with an invariant K^{+}K^{-} mass in the vicinity of the ϕ(1020) resonance, the CP-violating phase ϕ_{s} is measured, along with the difference in decay widths of the light and heavy mass eigenstates of the B_{s}^{0}-B[over ¯]_{s}^{0} system, ΔΓ_{s}, and the difference of the average B_{s}^{0} and B^{0} meson decay widths, Γ_{s}-Γ_{d}. Human microphysiological systems, such as organs on chips, are an emerging technology for modeling human physiology in a preclinical setting to understand the mechanism of action of drugs, to evaluate the efficacy of treatment options for human disease and impairment, and to assess drug toxicity. By using human cells co-cultured in three-dimensional constructs, organ chips can provide greater fidelity to the human cellular condition than their two-dimensional predecessors. However, with the rise of SARS-CoV-2 and the global COVID-19 pandemic, it became clear that many microphysiological systems were not compatible with or optimized for studies of infectious disease and operation in a Biosafety Level 3 (BSL-3) environment.

Moore swabs have re-emerged as a versatile tool in the field of wastewater-based epidemiology during the COVID-19 pandemic and offer unique advantages for monitoring pathogens in sewer systems, especially at the neighborhood-level. However, whether Moore swabs provide comparable results to more commonly used composite samples remains to be rigorously tested including the optimal duration of Moore swab deployment. This study provides new insights into these issues by comparing the results from Moore swab samples to those of paired composite samples collected from the same sewer lines continuously over six to seventy-two hours post-deployment, during low COVID-19 prevalence periods.

  • Among 331 patients who had double-valve replacements, 21 (6.3%) underwent the Commando procedure, which was associated with higher rates of previous surgeries, emergency procedures, and increased short-term complications, including higher operative mortality.
  • Despite the short-term challenges seen in the Commando group, the long-term survival rates were similar to those of patients who had standard aortic and mitral valve replacements, suggesting the AMC reconstruction may be just as durable over time.

Purpose: Single-agent checkpoint inhibition is effective in a minority of patients with platinum-refractory urothelial carcinoma; therefore, the efficacy of combining low-dose paclitaxel with pembrolizumab was tested.

Materials And Methods: This was a prospective, single-arm phase II trial with key inclusion criteria of imaging progression within 12 months of platinum therapy and Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group ≤1. Treatment was pembrolizumab 200 mg day 1 and paclitaxel 80 mg/m2 days 1 and 8 of a 21-day cycle for up to eight cycles unless progression or unacceptable adverse events (AE).
