Alterations can affect speed, but also style (the way one walks). Background: The fall armyworm, Spodoptera frugiperda, is a significant and widespread pest of maize, sorghum, rice, and other economically important crops. Successful management of this caterpillar pest has historically relied upon application of synthetic insecticides and through cultivation of genetically engineered crops expressing insecticidal proteins (Bt crops). Fall armyworm has, however, developed resistance to both synthetic insecticides and Bt crops, which risks undermining the benefits delivered by these important crop protection tools.

Zinc, copper, and manganese are prominent essential trace (or micro) minerals, being required in small, but adequate, amounts by pigs and poultry for normal biological functioning. Feed is a source of trace minerals for pigs and poultry but variable bioavailability in typical feed ingredients means that supplementation with low-cost oxides and sulphates has become common practice. Such trace mineral supplementation often provides significant 'safety margins', while copper and zinc have been supplemented at supra-nutritional (or pharmacological) levels to improve health and/or growth performance.

Clinical signs in Parkinson's disease (PD), including parkinsonian gait, are often asymmetric, but mechanisms underlying gait asymmetries in PD remain poorly understood. A translational toolkit, a set of standardized measures to capture gait asymmetries in relevant mouse models and patients, would greatly facilitate research efforts. We validated approaches to quantify asymmetries in placement and timing of limbs in mouse models of parkinsonism and human PD subjects at speeds that are relevant for human walking.

Most animals are colonised by at least as many microbial cells as somatic cells, potentially comprising at least 100 times more genes within just the gut microbiota than the host itself. It is, therefore, evident that such a conglomeration can have a profound effect on various bodily systems, particularly the (gut) immune system. Valid translations of time use scales are needed by occupational therapists for use in different cross-cultural contexts to gather relevant data to inform practice and research. The purpose of this study was to describe the process of translating, adapting, and validating the Time Use Diary from its current English language edition into a Malay language version. Five steps of the cross-cultural adaptation process were completed: (i) translation from English into the Malay language by a qualified translator, (ii) synthesis of the translated Malay version, (iii) backtranslation from Malay to English by three bilingual speakers, (iv) expert committee review and discussion, and (v) pilot testing of the Malay language version with two participant groups.

Introduction: This study aimed to determine whether an 8-week online training program for developing skills in short-course development and delivery was effective in establishing locally driven, sustainable, evidence-based training for local occupational or physical therapists.

Conventional symptomatic treatment for Parkinson's disease (PD) with long-term L-3,4-dihydroxyphenylalanine (DOPA) is complicated with development of drug-induced side effects. In vivo viral vector-mediated gene expression encoding tyrosine hydroxylase (TH) and GTP cyclohydrolase 1 (GCH1) provides a drug delivery strategy of DOPA with distinct advantages over pharmacotherapy. Since the brain alterations made with current gene transfer techniques are irreversible, the therapeutic approaches taken to the clinic should preferably be controllable to match the needs of each individual during the course of their disease.

The synthetic 15-mer arginine-glycine-aspartic acid (RGD) domain of osteopontin (OPN) is protective in vitro and in vivo against dopaminergic cell death and this protective effect may be mediated through interaction with integrin receptors to regulate neurotrophic factor levels.
