Facial Contouring Through Jaw Exercises: A Report of Two Cases Examining Efficacy and Consumer Expectations.

This study examines the efficacy of jaw exercising products for facial contouring. The two individuals used a commercially available jaw exerciser for approximately three months, following the provided instructions. Neither case reported noticeable changes in jaw appearance based on subjective measurements.

Linear Psoriasis in a Pediatric Patient Successfully Treated With Ixekizumab.

Linear psoriasis is a rare clinical presentation of psoriasis characterized by erythematous scaly plaques distributed along Blaschko's lines. We describe an 8-year-old male with a linear Blaschkoid plaque in which biopsy findings and clinical history were consistent with linear psoriasis. The lesion showed only mild improvement with topical steroid therapy but exhibited significant clearance with the biologic agent ixekizumab, an IL-17A inhibitor.

Drug Reaction With Eosinophilia and Systemic Symptoms Syndrome Preceding Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis Secondary to Sildenafil: A Case Report.

Drug reactions with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS) syndrome and Stevens-Johnson syndrome-toxic epidermal necrolysis (SJS-TEN) are reactive entities of aberrant cytotoxic immunologic reactions to exogenous medications. While they are conventionally seen as distinct, separate conditions, we present a case of a rare evolution of DRESS syndrome into SJS-TEN in the setting of simultaneous amoxicillin-clavulanate initiation and long-term sildenafil use in a 66-year-old South Asian female with a known history of prior DRESS syndrome and pulmonary arterial hypertension. We discuss the conditions leading to her unique clinical presentation and provide considerations for future clinical encounters.

Accidental Extravasation of Mitomycin C into the Subcutaneous Tissue.

Introduction: Mitomycin C (MMC) is a common chemotherapeutic agent used to treat a variety of solid tumors. Cutaneous adverse events are rare, but MMC is a known vesicant reported to cause tissue necrosis and sloughing, erythema, and ulceration if incorrectly infused into the subcutaneous tissue. Definitive treatment of extravasation injuries due to MMC depends on the severity of the cutaneous manifestation, which includes stopping the infusion, removing the catheter, or possible debridement.

Acute Limb Ischemia Caused by Dissection following Percutaneous Coronary Intervention Using Right Radial Approach.

Iatrogenic aortic dissection is a rare but potentially fatal complication of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Iatrogenic aortic dissection following PCI is rare with most cases reporting dissection originating within the coronary vessels with propagation into the ascending aorta. In this specific case, dissection was without coronary involvement, with dissection extending from the ascending aorta into the descending aorta and iliac vessels.

Familial cold autoinflammatory syndrome with rheumatoid arthritis.

Familial cold autoinflammatory syndrome (FCAS) is a cryopyrin-associated periodic syndrome that presents with episodic fever, skin rash, and joint pain after exposure to cold temperatures. Although the diagnosis is often singular, there are several instances of concurrent underlying autoimmune pathologies with either rheumatoid arthritis (RA) or amyloidosis. Because symptoms of the two entities overlap, it can be difficult to address a potential dual diagnosis of FCAS and an autoimmune disorder.

Acute vesicular eruption postoperatively after use of a forced-air warming device.

Thermal burn injuries are a known complication of forced-air warming devices but rarely occur when the device is used in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. Here we present a case of a 3-year-old girl who in the immediate postoperative period was found to have prominent linear, evenly spaced vesicles and bullae in a pattern that distinctly matched the air-exit perforations of the Bair Hugger device. Clinicians should be aware of potential complications arising from even proper use of a medical device and take all necessary precautions to prevent such incidents.

SOX-10 staining in dermal scars.

Background: Positive staining for SOX10 and the S100 protein are often used in the evaluation of challenging melanocytic neoplasms including melanoma in patient samples. SOX-10 positivity of non-melanocytes in re-excision specimen could complicate the evaluation of invasive melanoma with an invasive desmoplastic component. Therefore, quantifiable data regarding the positivity of SOX-10 in scars will help dermatopathologists to better identify false positive staining.
