S-MGBs have been found to be active against many different organisms, however, selective antiparasitic activity is required. Methods: Cross-sectional telephone surveys of junior community football club management representatives and parents/carers of junior players were conducted in the states of New South Wales and Victoria, Australia in 2016.
Results: Seventy-nine of the 89 club representatives approached to participate completed the telephone survey.
While clinically useful, microtubule-targeting agents are limited by factors that include their susceptibility to multidrug resistance. A series of aryl sulfonamides, terminally substituted with an amide or carboxylic acid, was synthesized and assayed for biological activity in two human cancer cell lines. This report discusses a rare case of a 55-year-old female triathlete who developed recurrent episodes of swimming-induced pulmonary edema (SIPE). She had two hospital admissions with pulmonary edema after developing breathlessness while swimming, including a near-drowning experience in an open water swim. With increasing popularity of triathlon and open water sports, this case highlights the importance of a greater awareness of SIPE among health professionals, event organizers, and athletes.

The atomic structure of P22 tail needle (gp26) crystallized at acidic pH reveals a slender fiber containing an N-terminal "trimer of hairpins" tip. Although the length and composition of tail needles vary significantly in Podoviridae, unexpectedly, the amino acid sequence of the N-terminal tip is exceptionally conserved in more than 200 genomes of P22-like phages and prophages.

A panel of CRPC, ER-positive breast cancer and high/low AKR1C3-expressing cell lines were treated with SN33638, a selective inhibitor of AKR1C3, in the presence of hormone or prostaglandin (PG) precursors, prior to evaluation of cell proliferation and levels of 11β-PG F2α (11β-PGF2α), testosterone, 17β-estradiol, and prostate-specific antigen (PSA). A meta-analysis of AKR1C3 mRNA expression in patient samples was also conducted, which revealed that AKR1C3 mRNA was upregulated in CRPC, but downregulated in ER-positive breast cancer.
