Background: Multimodal lifestyle interventions can benefit overall health, including cognition, in populations at-risk for dementia. However, little is known about the effect of lifestyle interventions in patients with prodromal Alzheimer's disease (AD). Even less is known about dietary intake and adherence to dietary recommendations within this population making it difficult to design tailored interventions for them.

Embedded in the World-Wide FINGERS initiative, FINGER-NL aims to investigate the effectiveness of a 2-year multidomain lifestyle intervention on cognitive functioning in older Dutch at risk individuals.
Methods: Multi-center, randomized, controlled, multidomain lifestyle intervention trial with a duration of 24 months.
Background: The Finnish Geriatric Intervention Study to Prevent Cognitive Impairment and Disability (FINGER) showed cognitive benefits from a multidomain lifestyle intervention in at-risk older people. The LipiDiDiet trial highlighted benefits of medical food in prodromal Alzheimer's disease (AD). However, the feasibility and impact of multimodal interventions combining lifestyle with medical food in prodromal AD is unclear.

Methods: Data were used from the PROSpective Cohort with Incident Stroke-Berlin (PROSCIS-B; NCT01363856).
Introduction: Low ankle-brachial index (ABI) ≤0. 9 is a marker for generalized atherosclerosis and a risk factor for cognitive decline in the general population.
Objective: To evaluate the impact of ABI ≤0.
Objective: We aimed to investigate whether serum anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate-receptor GluN1 (previously NR1) antibody (NMDAR1-abs) seropositivity impacts cognitive function (CF) in the long term following ischemic stroke.
Methods: Data were used from the PROSpective Cohort with Incident Stroke-Berlin. NMDAR1-abs (IgM/IgA/IgG) were measured with cell-based assays from serum obtained within 7 days after the first-ever stroke.
Astrocytes are specialized glial cells that tile the central nervous system (CNS) and perform numerous essential functions. Astrocytes react to various forms of CNS insults by altering their morphology and molecular profile, through a process known as reactive astrogliosis. Accordingly, astrocyte reactivity is apparent in many neurodegenerative diseases, among which one is Alzheimer's disease (AD).

The guideline was endorsed by the European Society for Pediatric Endocrinology, the European Society for Endocrinology and the European Academy of Andrology. The aim was to create practice guidelines for clinical assessment and puberty induction in individuals with congenital pituitary or gonadal hormone deficiency.

This was indicated in the Finnish Geriatric Intervention Study to Prevent Cognitive Impairment and Disability (FINGER) testing a multidomain lifestyle intervention among at-risk individuals. The importance of medical food at the early symptomatic disease stage, prodromal Alzheimer's disease (AD), was emphasized in the LipiDiDiet trial.

Therefore, in studies among patients with acromegaly and growth hormone deficiency (GHD), we evaluated (1) used PROMs, (2) their validity, (3) quality of PRO reporting, (4) agreement between PROs and biochemical outcomes, and (5) determinants of discrepancies.
Evidence Acquisition: We searched 8 electronic databases for prospective studies describing both PROs and biochemical outcomes in acromegaly and GHD patients.
Pregnancies are rare in women with pituitary adenomas, which may relate to hormone excess from secretory subtypes such as prolactinomas or corticotroph adenomas. Decreased fertility may also result from pituitary hormone deficiencies due to compression of the gland by large tumours and/or surgical or radiation treatment of the lesion. Counselling premenopausal women with pituitary adenomas about their chance of conceiving spontaneously or with assisted reproductive technology, and the optimal pre-conception treatment, should start at the time of initial diagnosis.

We aimed to assess whether levels of high-sensitivity cardiac troponin T (hs-cTnT) are associated with recurrent vascular events and death in patients with first-ever, mild to moderate ischemic stroke. Methods and Results We used data from the PROSCIS-B (Prospective Cohort With Incident Stroke Berlin) study.

Prevalence studies indicate substantial use of both systemic and locally acting agents. A recognised adverse effect of glucocorticoid treatment is adrenal insufficiency, which is highly prevalent based on biochemical testing, but its clinical implications are poorly understood.

Classical ketogenic diets (KD), which reduce reliance on carbohydrates and provide ketones as fuel, have neuroprotective potential, but their high fat content reduces compliance, and experimental evidence suggests they protect juvenile brain against TBI, but not adult brain, which would strongly limit their applicability in TBI. We designed a new-KD with a fat to carbohydrate plus protein ratio of 2:1, containing medium chain triglycerides (MCT), docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), low glycaemic index carbohydrates, fibres and the ketogenic amino acid leucine, and evaluated its neuroprotective potential in adult TBI.

We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis to assess the effect of treatment on symptoms and HRQoL in acromegaly.
Methods: Seven electronic databases were searched for longitudinal studies assessing patient-reported symptoms or HRQoL in acromegaly.

Background and Purpose- Our study aim was to assess whether high-sensitivity cardiac troponin T (hs-cTnT), a specific biomarker for myocardial injury, is associated with cognitive function in patients after mild-to-moderate first-ever ischemic stroke. Methods- We used data from PROSCIS-B (Prospective Cohort With Incident Stroke Berlin). Cognitive function was assessed by Mini-Mental-State-Examination at baseline, and Telephone Interview for Cognitive Status-modified after 1 to 3 years of follow-up.

Methods- Embase, PubMed, and Web of Science were searched until March 14, 2019 to identify relevant articles. Randomized controlled trials and cohort studies assessing the risk of incident stroke based on hs-cTn were eligible.

Introduction: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is associated with synapse loss. Souvenaid, containing the specific nutrient combination Fortasyn Connect, was designed to improve synapse formation and function. The NL-ENIGMA study explored the effect of Souvenaid on synapse function in early AD by assessing cerebral glucose metabolism (CMRglc) with F-fluorodeoxyglucose ([F]FDG) positron emission tomography (PET).

Biochemical remission is urgently required; however, quality of life and cognitive function may remain impaired.
Objective: To perform a systematic review and meta-analysis evaluating changes in health-related quality of life and cognitive functioning in patients with Cushing syndrome after treatment.
Background: Adrenal crisis, the most feared complication of adrenal insufficiency, is a potentially life-threatening state of acute glucocorticoid deficiency. After successful surgery for Cushing's syndrome, many patients develop (transient) adrenal insufficiency. The incidence of adrenal crisis in patients treated for hypercortisolism is unknown.

Since its introduction in the 1970s, many centers have now switched from microscopic to endoscopic surgery. We compared both techniques for the treatment of Cushing's disease at the Leiden University Medical Center, a European reference center for pituitary diseases.
