Background: Considering the paucity of data, we aimed to describe nationwide time trends in antithrombotic therapy during pregnancy and risks of maternal and perinatal outcomes in the Netherlands.

Methods: In this nationwide cohort study, all female individuals aged 16-45 years with delivery records in the Dutch perinatal registry between Jan 1, 2013, and Dec 31, 2019, and their infants, were included. Individually linked data from Statistics Netherlands on outpatient medication prescriptions, in-hospital diagnoses, and mortality were used to evaluate time trends in antithrombotic therapy during pregnancy, and risks of maternal and perinatal outcomes (including thromboembolism, bleeding, preeclampsia and eclampsia, and low birthweight).

Background: Despite concerns about worsening pregnancy outcomes resulting from healthcare restrictions, economic difficulties and increased stress during the COVID-19 pandemic, preterm birth (PTB) rates declined in some countries in 2020, while stillbirth rates appeared stable. Like other shocks, the pandemic may have exacerbated existing socioeconomic disparities in pregnancy, but this remains to be established. Background: Maternal tetanus-diphtheria-and-acellular-pertussis (Tdap) vaccination is offered to all pregnant women during their second trimester in the Netherlands since December 2019. We assessed second trimester Tdap vaccination reactogenicity and compared with third trimester data from a similar study. We describe a patient with congenital neutropenia (CN) with a homozygous germline mutation in the colony-stimulating factor 3 receptor gene (CSF3R). The patient's bone marrow shows lagging neutrophil development with subtle left shift and unresponsiveness to CSF3 in in vitro colony assays. This patient illustrates that the di-proline hinge motif in the extracellular cytokine receptor homology domain of CSF3R is critical for adequate neutrophil production, but dispensable for in vivo terminal neutrophil maturation.

Therefore, the PHARMO Perinatal Research Network (PPRN) was set up as a resource for life course perinatal and paediatric research by linking population-based data from existing registrations.

Creating accurate habitat suitability and distribution models (HSDMs) for soil microbiota is far more challenging than for aboveground organism groups. In this perspective paper, we propose a conceptual framework that addresses several of the critical issues holding back further applications. Background: The time interval between CRT and surgery in rectal cancer patients is still the subject of debate. The aim of this study was to first evaluate the nationwide use of restaging magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and its impact on timing of surgery, and, second, to evaluate the impact of timing of surgery after chemoradiotherapy (CRT) on short- and long-term outcomes.

Patients with myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) have ineffective in vivo and in vitro erythropoiesis, characterized by an impaired response to erythropoietin (Epo). We examined proliferation and maturation of MDS marrow cells in response to Epo in more detail. In vitro colony-forming abilities of highly purified primitive hematopoietic cells in eight cases of myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) were studied using the blast cell colony assay. The effects of recombinant human tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF alpha) on colony growth were studied using highly enriched progenitor cells from normal human bone marrow. Supplementation of TNF to culture resulted in a dose-dependent suppression of granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) induced granulocytic colony formation and also erythropoietin (Epo) induced erythroid burst formation. However, the number of erythroid bursts, stimulated by interleukin-3 (IL-3) plus Epo, increased when TNF was added at comparable concentrations.
