Background: Effective strategies are needed to improve vaccine acceptance. This study sought to determine if a peer-led vaccine education intervention embedded within community medical practices increases parental acceptance of pediatric pneumococcal conjugate vaccination.

Methods: From March 2022-July 2023, we conducted a randomized trial at three pediatric health practices in predominantly Hasidic Jewish neighborhoods in New York, where vaccine deferral is common.

The bioethics literature has paid little attention to resistance to COVID-19 vaccination, despite the safety and effectiveness of vaccines and the heavy death toll of the virus. A narrative approach to the problem might begin with descriptions of good and bad narratives about vaccination. Bad stories about vaccination tend to be constructed backwards, starting with the desired conclusion (vaccination is dangerous or ineffective) and from that filling in needed "facts" to support the conclusion.

Peri-implantitis is characterized by chronic inflammation of the peri-implant supporting tissues that progressively and irreversibly leads to bone loss and, consequently, implant loss. Similar to periodontal disease, oral dysbiosis is thought to be a driver of peri-implantitis. However, managing peri-implantitis with traditional treatment methods, such as nonsurgical debridement or surgery, is not always successful.

Dysbiosis of the oral microbiome is associated with a variety of oral and systemic diseases, including periodontal disease. Oral dysbiosis in periodontal disease leads to an exacerbated host immune response that induces progressive periodontal tissue destruction and ultimately tooth loss. To counter the disease-associated dysbiosis of the oral cavity, strategies have been proposed to reestablish a "healthy" microbiome via the use of probiotics.
