A Last Resort: Dacron Vascular Graft Prosthesis for Management of a Blowhole Colostomy.

The creation of a blowhole colostomy can be an effective option for patients with large bowel obstruction and severe abdominal disease. However, they are often difficult to manage secondary to poor appliance fitting, peristomal dermatitis, and pain. In 2021, a case series describing a novel technique using a Dacron Vascular Prosthesis (VUP medical, Brno, Czech Republic) sutured to the mucocutaneous junction to help with stoma management was described.
