Experiences of sexual and reproductive health screening and counseling in the clinical setting among adolescents and young adults with rheumatic disease.

Background: Our objective was to describe differences among adolescents and young adults (AYAs) with rheumatic disease using teratogens compared to non-users in receipt of sexual and reproductive health (SRH) counseling, teratogenicity knowledge, perceived importance of SRH topics, and preferences around counseling.

Methods: AYAs ages 14-23 years and assigned female at birth were recruited from pediatric rheumatology clinics at a Midwest tertiary care program. Participants completed a one-time online survey assessing SRH.

Introduction: Non-Hispanic Black men experience a disproportionate rate of morbidity and mortality from hypertension, cardiovascular disease, and other chronic conditions in the United States. Studies have demonstrated the efficacy of community-based health outreach in settings not traditionally utilized for health care. Understanding how potential future participants view health care services in nontraditional settings is a necessary step to ascertain the success of these interventions in the real world.

Evaluation of standard versus reduced dose apixaban for the treatment of venous thromboembolism in patients with severe renal disease (ESRD-VTE).

Background: There are no clear dosing recommendations when using apixaban for venous thromboembolism (VTE) treatment in patients with severe or end-stage renal disease; clinical trials excluded patients with a creatinine clearance (CrCl) <25 mL/min or on dialysis. This study compares bleeding rates in patients with severe or end-stage renal disease taking standard versus reduced dose apixaban for VTE treatment.

Materials And Methods: This was a multicenter, retrospective cohort study using electronic medical records between January 1, 2013, and August 31, 2021.

Reproductive health needs of adolescent and young adult women with pediatric rheumatic diseases.

Background: The purpose of this study was to identify reproductive health knowledge gaps and topics that concern adolescent and young adult (AYA) women with pediatric rheumatic diseases and their parents.

Methods: Data collection occurred in two cohorts. In the first cohort, young women (15-20 years old) with pediatric-onset rheumatic conditions and their parents were recruited from a single, academic pediatric rheumatology center.
