Healthcare systems and providers have increasingly acknowledged the role and impact of social determinants in overall health. However, gender-diverse individuals face persistent health disparities due to their identities. There is limited research on the impact of clinical and sociodemographic characteristics on mood and quality of life (QoL) for transgender (TG) individuals.

Objective: To investigate the prevalence and trends of essential study design elements in preclinical urological studies, as well as key factors that may improve methodological rigour, as the demand for methodological rigour in preclinical studies is increasing since research reproducibility and transparency in the medico-scientific field are being questioned.

Methods And Results: PubMed was searched to include preclinical urological studies published between July 2007 to June 2021. A total of 3768 articles met the inclusion criteria.

Purpose: Previous literature shows that more bladder cancer patients overall die from causes other than the primary malignancy. Given known disparities in bladder cancer outcomes by race and sex, we aimed to characterize differences in cause-specific mortality for bladder cancer patients by these demographics.

Methods: We identified 215,252 bladder cancer patients diagnosed with bladder cancer from 2000 to 2017 in the SEER 18 database.

Objective: To provide a conceptual framework to guide investigations into burdens of noncancerous genitourinary conditions (NCGUCs), which are extensive and poorly understood.

Methods: The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases convened a workshop of diverse, interdisciplinary researchers and health professionals to identify known and hidden burdens of NCGUCs that must be measured to estimate the comprehensive burden. Following the meeting, a subgroup of attendees (authors of this article) continued to meet to conceptualize burden.

Objective: To propose a conceptual model to identify points along the condition course where actions or inaction affect downstream burdens of non-cancerous genitourinary conditions (NCGUC).

Materials And Methods: The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) convened an interdisciplinary meeting to comprehensively consider the burdens of NCGUCs. Subsequently, the authors met monthly to conceptualize the model.

Introduction And Hypothesis: While approximately 225,000 pelvic organ prolapse (POP) surgeries are performed annually in the US, there is no consensus on the optimal route for pelvic support for the initial treatment of uterovaginal prolapse (UVP). Our objective is to compare the outcomes of abdominal sacrocolpopexy (ASC) to vaginal pelvic support (VPS) with either uterosacral ligament suspension (USLS) or sacrospinous ligament fixation (SSF) in combination with hysterectomy for treating apical prolapse.

Methods: A systematic search was performed through March 2021.

Introduction And Hypothesis: To investigate differences in urine cholinergic metabolites in women with urinary urgency incontinence (UUI) and responders (R) and non-responders (NR) to anti-cholinergic medications (AC).

Methods: Patients with UUI and age-matched controls were evaluated pre- and post-treatment using OABSS, UDI-6 and IIQ-7. Controls were defined as having a cumulative OABSS of zero.

In-gantry MRI-guided biopsy (MRGB) of the prostate has been shown to be more accurate than other targeted prostate biopsy methods. However, the optimal number of cores to obtain during in-gantry MRGB remains undetermined. The purpose of this study was to assess the diagnostic yield of obtaining an incremental number of cores from the primary lesion and of second lesion sampling during in-gantry MRGB of the prostate.

Purpose: Multiple robotic-assisted surgeries are often performed within a single operating day; however, the impact of this practice on patient outcomes has not been examined. We aim to determine whether outcomes for robotic-assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy (RALP) differed when performed sequentially.

Materials And Methods: A multi-institutional, retrospective cohort study was conducted involving a total of 8 academic centers between years 2015 and 2018.

Objective: To better understand the interplay of socioeconomic and demographic traits on bladder cancer outcomes utilizing the Ohio state cancer registry, Ohio Cancer Incidence Surveillance System (OCISS).

Methods: We obtained demographic, clinical and outcome data on 47,182 bladder cancer cases diagnosed from 1996 to 2016 from OCISS. Multivariable Cox proportional hazards regression to calculate hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (95% CIs) for the association between sex, race and poverty and survival, adjusting age, stage, and primary treatment.

Periurethral human mesenchymal stem cell (hMSC) injections are associated with functional improvement in animal models of postpartum stress urinary incontinence (SUI). However, limited data exist on the role of hMSCs in modulating gene expression in tissue repair after urethral injury. To this end, we quantified temporal gene expression modulation in hMSCs, and in injured rat urethral tissue, using RNA-seq in an animal model of SUI, over a 3-day period following urethral injury, and local hMSC injection.

Objective: To develop and externally validate a prediction model for anticholinergic response in patients with overactive bladder (OAB).

Methods: A machine learning model to predict the likelihood of anticholinergic treatment failure was constructed using a retrospective data set (n=559) of female patients with OAB who were treated with anticholinergic medications between January 2010 and December 2017. Treatment failure was defined as less than 50% improvement in frequency, urgency, incontinence episodes, and nocturia, and the patient's subjective impression of symptomatic relief.

Introduction: A contribution of genetic factors to the development of stress urinary incontinence (SUI) is broadly acknowledged. This study aimed to: (1) provide insight into the genetic pathogenesis of SUI by gathering and synthesizing the available data from studies evaluating differential gene expression in SUI patients and (2) identify possible novel therapeutic targets and leads.

Methods: A systematic literature search was conducted through September 2017 for the concepts of genetics and SUI.
