Amphotericin B (AmB) is a commonly utilized antifungal agent, which is also recommended for the treatment of certain neglected tropical diseases, including leishmaniasis. However, its clinical application is constrained because of its poor oral bioavailability and adverse effects, prompting the investigation of alternative drug delivery systems. Polymeric nanoparticles (PNPs) have gained attention as a potential drug delivery vehicle, providing advantages such as sustained release and enhanced bioavailability, and could have potential as AmB carriers.

Despite the presence of numerous heterocyclic compounds in commercial insecticides and larvicides, resistance to pesticides still demands novel strategies to current pest control methods. Considering these facts, this review aims to survey the synthesis and SAR of heterocyclic molecules with larvicidal activity against Aedes aegypti Linn.

The current cholesterol guidelines recommend maintaining low levels of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD). However, recent studies have suggested that both very low and very high LDL-C levels may be associated with increased mortality in the general population. We utilized data from TriNetX, a global health research network, to investigate the association between LDL-C levels and all-cause mortality in patients with CAD.

Our results confirm that SPs obtained from Gracilaria domingensis (SP-GD) are agarans, primarily composed of residues of β-d-galactopyranose 6-sulfate and 3,6-anhydro-α-l-galactopyranose. Specifically, SP-GD at a dose of 10 mg/kg was effective in significantly reducing paw edema induced by carrageenan or histamine, serotonin, bradykinin, 48/80 and prostaglandin E2.

NADES are green and sustainable solvents with advantageous chemical properties for such applications. The NADES were prepared with different components, characterized, and applied in ultrasound-assisted extraction (UAE) and microwave-assisted extraction (MAE) methods.

Food insecurity refers to the lack of regular access to sufficient and nutritious food, which can directly affect health by worsening conditions such as anemia and vitamin D insufficiency. This study evaluated the association between vitamin D insufficiency and anemia in older adults.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFTwo-dimensional (2D) materials, particularly transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs), have gathered significant attention due to their interesting electrical and optical properties. Among TMDs, monolayers of WSeexhibit a direct band gap and high exciton binding energy, which enhances photon emission and absorption even at room temperature. This study investigates the electronic and optical properties of WSemonolayers when they are mechanically transferred to indium tin oxide (ITO) substrates.

For a better understanding of the aging process, recognize the relationship between telomere length and nutritional status is a novel approach in geriatric science. Telomers shortening coincides with a decrease in life expectancy, and an increased risk of malnutrition-related diseases.

Over the past two decades, concerns have arisen about the efficacy and safety of medicinal plants, highlighting good agricultural practices and quality control. This study aimed to validate a multi-residue analysis method for detecting 268 pesticides in Mikania glomerata tincture, using direct injection and UPLC-MS/MS, per SANTE guidelines. The validation of the method involved evaluating the linearity of analytical curves in terms of the determination coefficient r2 and residuals (%), as well as the limits of quantification (LOQ), matrix effects, precision (expressed as the coefficient of variation, CV), and accuracy (determined as the recovery percentage).

Method: Methodological study. Five factorial models of the MOS-SSS were tested for their validity and reliability using three Brazilian samples from different locations in the country.
Termites of the genus Nasutitermes sp. (Blattodea: Termitidae), which feed on cellulose, may cause wood to become brittle and fragile. This study aimed to evaluate the natural resistance of three native wood species: Magonia pubescens (Sapindaceae), Dalbergia nigra and Machaerium amplum (Fabaceae) to attack by Nasutitermes sp.

This study aimed to analyze what research has been produced regarding the relationship between menopause and telomere length.
Methods: This integrative literature review included searches in PubMed, CINAHL, LILACS, Web of Science and Scopus databases.
Background: To verify whether shorter telomere length is associated with anorexia of ageing in community-dwelling older people.
Methods: Conducted as a cross-sectional investigation, the study enrolled 448 participants residing in an urban area of a municipality in Brazil. Relative telomere length in blood samples was measured using quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR), whereas the presence of anorexia of ageing was determined using the Simplified Appetite Nutritional Questionnaire.
