[Should general practitioners measure the respiratory rate more often in acutely ill patients?].

Tachypnoea or bradypnea in an acutely ill patient can be the first clinical sign of a life-threatening condition. A recent Dutch study shows that the respiratory rate is measured in 25% of acutely ill patients assessed at home by the GP. The study describes that the GP is able to count the respiratory rate correctly.
