Endovascular parent vessel sacrifice is an established technique used to treat vascular pathology and tumor infiltration of blood vessels. In high-flow vessels, such as the carotid artery or vertebral artery, distal coil migration and embolization are concerns. A method to mitigate this risk would improve the safety profile of the procedure.

A novel translaminar crossover approach for pathologies in the lumbar hidden zone.

We report eight patients with disc herniations who underwent sequestrectomy via a crossover translaminar technique. The lateral lumbar spinal canal can be divided into several regions: the subarticular, foraminal and extraforaminal zone. Due to its difficult surgical exposure, some authors refer to part of the subarticular and foraminal region as the hidden zone.

Limitations of Current GABA Agonists in Neonatal Seizures: Toward GABA Modulation Via the Targeting of Neuronal Cl(-) Transport.

Neonatal intensive care has advanced rapidly in the last 40 years, with dramatic decreases in mortality and morbidity; however, for neonatal seizures, neither therapies nor outcomes have changed significantly. Basic and clinical studies indicate that seizures in neonates have long-term neurodevelopmental and psychiatric consequences, highlighting the need for novel pharmacotherapeutics. First-line treatments targeting GABAA receptors, like barbiturates and benzodiazepines, are limited in their efficacy and carry significant risks to the developing brain.
