Case Report of Cardiac Arrest After Succinylcholine in a Child With Muscle-Eye-Brain Disease.

Muscle-eye-brain disease is a rare autosomal recessive disorder characterized by congenital muscular dystrophy, ocular abnormalities, and brain malformation. We report an intraoperative hyperkalemic cardiac arrest following the administration of succinylcholine in a child with muscle-eye-brain disease. The disease was diagnosed only after this event.

A comparison of the GlideScope video laryngoscope and standard direct laryngoscopy in children with immobilized cervical spine.

Objectives: Airway management in children with cervical spine may make direct laryngoscopy difficult. Video laryngoscopy is an alternative to direct laryngoscopy. The GlideScope video laryngoscope, successfully used in expected and unexpected difficult pediatric airway situations, has not been studied so far in children with cervical spine immobilization.
