Introduction: The clinical importance, prevalence, and multiple etiologies of tissue edema make it a critical part of medical education. Given the multiple physiological parameters that must be simultaneously considered to determine fluid movement, it is important that a deeper understanding of the microcirculation and fluid shifts is achieved in preclinical education.

A global network of ground-based Fourier transform spectrometers has been founded to remotely measure column abundances of CO(2), CO, CH(4), N(2)O and other molecules that absorb in the near-infrared. These measurements are directly comparable with the near-infrared total column measurements from space-based instruments. Neonatal entero-viral sepsis is a rare but fulminant infection with multisystem involvement, often presenting with hepatitis, meningo-encephalitis, disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC), and myocarditis. Neonatal myocarditis often proves fatal. We report here a case of neonatal enteroviral myocarditis with multisystem organ failure and ischemic cardiomyopathy that was managed medically.
