Background: Positive pressure ventilation (PPV) is an essential component of neonatal resuscitation. Meta-analytic evidence suggests that, among late preterm and term newborn infants who require resuscitation after birth, a supraglottic airway (SA) device is more effective than a face mask at reducing the probability of PPV failure and reducing the need for endotracheal intubation. However, SA devices are rarely used in routine practice in hospital delivery room settings within the United States.

Critical care transport medicine (CCTM) teams are playing an increasing role in the care of patients in cardiogenic shock requiring mechanical circulatory support devices. In most holometabolous insects, sex differentiation occurs via a hierarchical cascade of transcription factors, with doublesex (dsx) regulating genes that control sex-specific traits. Protein translation (PT) declines with age in invertebrates, rodents, and humans. It has been assumed that elevated PT at young ages is beneficial to health and PT ends up dropping as a passive byproduct of aging. In Drosophila, we show that a transient elevation in PT during early-adulthood exerts long-lasting negative impacts on aging trajectories and proteostasis in later-life.

Using continuous pulse oximetry (cSpO ) to monitor children with bronchiolitis who are not receiving supplemental oxygen is a form of medical overuse. In this longitudinal analysis from the Eliminating Monitor Overuse (EMO) study, we aimed to assess changes in cSpO overuse before, during, and after intensive cSpO -deimplementation efforts in six hospitals. Monitoring data were collected during three phases: "P1" baseline, "P2" active deimplementation (all sites engaged in education and audit and feedback strategies), and "P3" sustainment (a new baseline measured after strategies were withdrawn).

Numerous genes are involved in regulating the underlying processes of melanization and sclerotization, and their manipulation can be used to create externally visible markers of successful gene editing.
