Adult granulosa cell tumors (AGCTs) are a molecularly distinct group of malignant ovarian sex cord-stromal tumors (SCSTs) characterized by a nearly ubiquitous c.402C>G/p.C134W mutation in FOXL2 (hereafter referred to as "C134W").

Data on uptake of RRM in LFS are scarce, and are inferred from experience in women with pathogenic variants (PVs) in BRCA1/2, despite differences in cancer risks. This study evaluated RRM uptake in a cohort of women with LFS.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFLi-Fraumeni syndrome (LFS) is a rare hereditary cancer syndrome in which individuals have a significantly increased risk of developing multiple cancers throughout the life span. An LFS diagnosis may shift the individual's sense of self and tolerance of cancer risk as they engage in cancer screening and cancer prevention activities. This study examined the impact of family identity on health decision making, communication, and role function.

Data Coordination Centers (DCC) serve to facilitate the implementation of these strategies. The utility of a DCC can be particularly relevant for research on rare diseases where collaboration from multiple sites to amass large aggregate datasets is essential.

We explored healthcare roles for managing LFS-related cancer risks and treatments that were assumed by parents, adolescents, and adult children. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 23 families.

The Basal and Squamous Cell Carcinoma QoL (BaSQoL) questionnaire was developed to comprehensively measure issues of importance to patients with KC.

Objective: To evaluate the performance of the p16/Ki-67 dual stain (DS) and HPV16/18 genotyping for the triage of HPV-positive women.
Design, Setting, And Participants: A prospective observational study was conducted within the cervical cancer screening program at Kaiser Permanente Northern California of 3225 HPV-positive women undergoing HPV and Papanicolaou cytologic testing with a valid DS result from September 16 to October 31, 2015, with follow-up through December 31, 2018.
Purpose: Li-Fraumeni Syndrome (LFS) is an inherited tumor predisposition syndrome with lifetime cancer risks approaching 100% and evolving risk-management strategies. This study evaluated couples' coping with LFS-related burdens.
Research Approach: Constructivist grounded theory and anticipatory loss frameworks guided design and analysis.
Rationale: Classic histology is the gold standard for vascular network imaging and analysis. The method however is laborious and prone to artefacts. Here, the suitability of ultramicroscopy (UM) and micro-computed tomography (CT) was studied to establish potential alternatives to histology.

We investigated the role of vasodilator-stimulated phosphoprotein (VASP) in vascular repair. After hindlimb ischemia induction, blood flow recovery, angiogenesis, arteriogenesis, and leukocyte infiltration into ischemic muscles in VASP mice were accelerated.

Objective: To determine the feasibility and efficacy of a comprehensive cancer screening regimen in Li-Fraumeni syndrome, using multiple radiologic techniques, including rapid whole-body magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and laboratory measurements.
Design, Setting, And Participants: Baseline evaluation of a prospective cancer screening study was conducted from June 1, 2012, to July 30, 2016, at the National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health (an academic research facility).
Information is scarce on the prevalence of hoof disorders in horses. In this study, we examined the prevalence of and risk factors for hoof disorders in a population of horses in The Netherlands. In a group of 942 randomly selected horses, hoof health was scored during regular foot trimming (one horse/farm).

This discussion proceeds through two layers of organization. First, stroke is divided up into its main etiologic categories (ischemic stroke/transient ischemic attack, hemorrhagic stroke, and ischemic to hemorrhagic transformation).

Precise estimates for the risk of first and subsequent cancers are lacking.
Methods: The National Cancer Institute's Li-Fraumeni Syndrome Study includes families meeting the diagnostic criteria for LFS or Li-Fraumeni-like syndrome, and individuals with a germline TP53 mutation, choroid plexus carcinoma, adrenocortical carcinoma, or ≥3 cancers.
Purpose: To define the frequency with which adult research participants consent to be offered clinically validated research genetic test results (RR) and incidental findings (IF).
Methods: Consents were obtained from 506 adults enrolled in one of three studies within the National Cancer Institute Clinical Genetics Branch's Familial Cancer Research Program. A cross-sectional analysis was performed involving the choices indicated on study consents regarding receipt of RR and IF.
This study presents findings of a mixed-method descriptive exploration of the role of friends and spirituality/religiosity in easing the burden of families with the rare inherited disorder, Li-Fraumeni Syndrome (LFS). LFS is caused by germline mutations in the TP53 gene and is associated with very high lifetime risk of developing one or more malignancies. During the first clinical visit we assessed several types of social support among a subset of study participants (N = 66) using an established interactive research tool called the Colored Eco-Genetic Relationship Map (CEGRM).

Distinguishing between invasive urothelial carcinoma from other genitourinary lesions such as prostatic and renal carcinomas can be difficult, and may require highly sensitive immunohistochemical markers. GATA-binding protein 3 (GATA3) has been reported in a high percentage of urothelial and breast carcinomas. Mouse monoclonal uroplakin II (UPII) and p40 antibodies have recently been developed and demonstrated high specificity in urothelial carcinoma.

SOX10 has shown important clinical utility in its ability to detect desmoplastic and spindle cell melanomas. To date, most publications have employed a research use-only goat polyclonal SOX10 antibody for immunohistochemical staining.

Studies have shown uroplakin II messenger RNA to be expressed in bladder cancer tissues and peripheral blood of patients with urothelial carcinoma. Little is known about the protein expression of uroplakin II in urothelial carcinoma, possibly because of the absence of a commercially available uroplakin II antibody.

As a result, mouse monoclonal anti-E-cadherin [HECD-1] has been used by pathologists to differentiate between ductal and lobular carcinomas, with currently published sensitivity and specificity rates of approximately 90%. In recent studies, a rabbit polyclonal p40 (RPp40) antibody demonstrated equivalent staining versus anti-p63 in lung squamous cell carcinoma, and superior specificity because it stains a lesser percentage of lung adenocarcinoma.
Objectives: To develop an anti-p40 mouse monoclonal antibody (MMp40) for immunohistochemistry, and to evaluate its sensitivity and specificity in normal and neoplastic tissues, with emphasis on lung cancer.
Context: Folate receptor α (FRA) has been shown to be selectively expressed in several types of human cancer, including breast cancer. Currently, several FRA target therapies are under intensive study.
Objective: To investigate the expression pattern of FRA in a large cohort of patients with breast cancer and analyze its relationship with different clinicopathologic features, with expression of several key biomarkers, and with clinical outcome.
