To understand the dynamics of parasite proliferation within the host, it is therefore important to delineate basic mechanisms of Echinococcus stem cell maintenance and differentiation. Fatty acid-binding proteins (FABPs) are small intracellular proteins that reversibly bind fatty acids and other hydrophobic ligands.
