Energy delivered at different wavelengths causes different types of damage to DNA. PC-3, FaDu, 4T1 and B16-F10 cells were irradiated with different wavelengths of ultraviolet light (UVA/UVC) and ionizing radiation (X-ray). Furthermore, different photosensitizers (ortho-iodo-Hoechst33258/psoralen/trioxsalen) were tested for their amplifying effect.

Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted among patients with an in-person consultation at the outpatient clinic for internal medicine and among healthcare professionals who treated the patients. The prevalence of preference was determined using descriptive statistics based on cross-tabulated frequencies.
Long-term static dissolution experiments, lasting up to ∼1500 days, were conducted on International Simple Glass (ISG) and SON68 glass under hyperalkaline pH, at 70 °C, and at a very high glass surface area to solution volume ratio. The study compared (1) glass dissolution kinetics, (2) secondary phase formation, and (3) the microstructure of the altered glass and secondary phase interface. Boron release indicated rapid initial dissolution followed by a slowdown mainly due to a significant pH drop.

Despite the initial success of [Lu]Lu‑DOTA-TATE, theranostic SSTR2 radioligands require improved pharmacokinetics and enhanced compatibility with alternative radionuclides. Consequently, this study evaluates the pharmacokinetic effects of the albumin-binding domain cLAB4 on theranostic performance of copper‑67-labeled NODAGA-TATE variants in an SSTR2-positive mouse pheochromocytoma (MPC) model.

Therefore, as part of the PIKKO project, a web-based knowledge database (WDB) was introduced to provide cancer patients with quality-assured, evidence-based information. This paper aims to provide insights into the usage (Who? How? What?) and the effects regarding health literacy of the WDB.

Therefore, they represent a promising therapeutic option for unresectable solid tumor entities. In this study, a peptide-starPEG/hyaluronic acid-based physical hydrogel is modified with ferrocene to provide a programmable drug release orchestrated by matrix-drug interaction and local reactive oxygen species (ROS).

This study aimed to assess the incidence of candidemia, the factors related to COVID-19-associated candidemia (CAC), and prognostic factors. A non-concurrent cohort of 87 cases of patients aged over 18 years with candidemia between March 2020 and February 2022 was evaluated.

We herein report an exception to this paradigm. Wild-type nucleoside phosphorylases also furnish N7-xanthosine, a "non-native" ribosylation regioisomer of xanthosine.

The purpose of this study is to identify the magnitude of drafting benefits for biomechanical, physiological, and psychobiological parameters in and between athletes in cycling, kayaking, running, skating, skiing, and swimming.

Methods: For this purpose, a retrospective longitudinal analysis using health insurance claims data was performed.
Background: Telepalliative care is increasingly used in palliative care, but has yet to be examined from a patient and family perspective. A synthesis of evidence may provide knowledge on how to plan and provide telepalliative care that caters specifically to patients and families' needs.
Objective: To synthesise evidence on patients and families' perspectives on telepalliative care.
Viral disinfection is important for medical facilities, the food industry, and the veterinary field, especially in terms of controlling virus outbreaks. Therefore, standardized methods and activity levels are available for these areas. Usually, disinfectants used in these areas are characterized by their activity against test organisms (i.

The construction of a suitable QM region is the most crucial step in setting up hybrid quantum mechanics/molecular mechanics (QM/MM) simulations for enzymatic reactions. The QM region should ideally include all important amino acids residues, while being as small as possible to save computational effort. Most available methods for systematic QM region construction are based either on the distance of single amino acids to the active site or on their electrostatic effect.

Nucleotide sugars (NSs) are activated sugars that link glucose metabolism with cellular functions via protein N-glycosylation and O-GlcNAcylation. Thus, understanding how different metabolic pathways converge in the synthesis of NSs is critical to explore new opportunities for metabolic interference and modulation of stem cell functions.

Since GPCRs are transmembrane proteins, receptor samples for binding assays are prepared from tissue sections, cell membranes, cell homogenates, or intact cells. As part of our investigations on modulating the pharmacokinetics of radiolabeled peptides for improved theranostic targeting of neuroendocrine tumors with a high abundance of the somatostatin receptor sub-type 2 (SST), we characterized a series of Cu-labeled [Tyr]octreotate (TATE) derivatives in vitro in saturation binding assays.

The main challenge to be tackled is the construction of the QM region to make sure to take into account all important parts of the adjacent environment and exclude less important ones. In our previous work [F.

While Germany entered the first lockdown in spring 2020, the PIKKO study (Patient information, communication and competence empowerment in oncology) was still active. The intervention modules, patient navigator (PN), services of the Saarland Cancer Society (SCS), psycho-social counseling and different courses, and online knowledge database (ODB) continued to be offered, but in an adapted form.

One of them was PIKKO (a German acronym for "Patient information, communication and competence empowerment in oncology"), which combined a patient navigator, socio-legal and psychological counseling (with psychooncologists), courses dealing with various supportive aspects, and a knowledge database with validated and easy-to-understand disease-related information. The aim was to increase the patients' health-related quality of life (HRQoL), self-efficacy as well as health literacy and to reduce psychological complaints such as depression and anxiety.

Method: Required data was collected as part of the PIKKO study.
Introduction: Increases in the use of telehealth in palliative care (telepalliative care) prior to, and during, the COVID-19 pandemic have resulted in a proliferation of studies on the topic. While knowledge is building on how providers and recipients adapt to telepalliative care, no reviews have, as of yet, examined telepalliative care from a patient and family perspective. Therefore, the aim of this integrative review is to explore patients and families' perspectives on telepalliative.
