Objective: The purpose of this study was to assess the 5-year impact of a per oral endoscopic myotomy (POEM) program on both clinical and financial outcomes for our hospital system and the rural community we serve.
Methods: We evaluated the clinical and financial outcomes of all patients who underwent POEM for achalasia. Patients were also contacted by phone to complete the Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease-Health Related Quality of Life (GERD-HRQL) questionnaire postoperatively.

The purpose of this report is to demonstrate robotic cryoablation of an atrial myxoma stalk as a method to prevent recurrence and preserve atrial tissue. A 38-year-old female patient was taken to the operating room, and an atrial myxoma abutting the left inferior pulmonary vein was resected robotically. This was followed by cryoablation of the tumor stalk instead of a full-thickness resection to prevent an extensive reconstruction.

Conventional management consists of long-term thoracostomy tube placement; however, in some cases, patients are unable to leave the hospital because of the need for continuous negative pressure. We investigated the application of endobronchial valves (EBVs) in the management of patients with air leak for whom surgical intervention was contraindicated.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the association between interval from coronary angiography to urgent coronary artery bypass grafting with acute kidney injury, and to examine this possible effect in patients with preexisting kidney disease.
Methods: Patients from a single institution undergoing urgent, isolated coronary artery bypass grafting within 7 days of coronary angiography were included.
Introduction: Syphilis is an infectious disease that is uncommonly encountered in surgical patients. We present a case of severe syphilitic proctitis leading to large bowel obstruction with imaging findings mimicking locally advanced rectal cancer.
Presentation Of Case: A 38-year-old man who had sex with men presented to the emergency department with a 2 week history of obstipation.
Objectives: There is a perception, with mixed literary support, that patients are transferred from community hospitals to tertiary medical centers for non-clinical reasons (ie, payor, race, and admission time). Over-triage risks unequally burdening the tertiary medical centers within a trauma system. This study aims to identify potential non-clinical factors associated with the transfer of injured patients.

The validated scales Patient Health Questionnaire-9 and Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 can be used to assess depression and anxiety, respectively. Our aim was to prospectively characterize the changes in neuropsychiatric symptoms after parathyroidectomy.

A respiratory epithelial adenomatoid hamartoma (REAH) is an uncommon benign lesion often found in the sinonasal tract. We present a case of bilateral REAH originating from the anterior olfactory cleft treated with endoscopic surgical resection without recurrence. We highlight the characteristics of REAH and necessary steps to ensure proper diagnosis and treatment.
