Implementing Clinical Practice Guidelines for Tobacco Cessation in a Women's Residential Substance Use Treatment Facility.

Background: Tobacco is the leading cause of preventable death, and over 200,000 women die each year of diseases caused by tobacco. Women with substance use disorders (SUDs) are disproportionately affected. Smoking prevalence among individuals enrolled in SUD treatment is 2-4 times higher than that of the general population, yet less than half of all treatment facilities offer tobacco treatment services.
