Complex [1](ClO4)2 is octahedral containing two neutral H3L ligands in a facial coordination mode, whereas complex 2 is a singlet diradical species with approximately planar configuration at the tetracoordinate metal atom with two pendant NH2 side arms from each of the coordinated ligands. Both complexes are found to be chemically interconvertible; complex [1](2+) gets converted to complex 2 when exposed to base and oxygen via simultaneous deprotonation and oxidation of the coordinated ligands.

X-ray crystallography reveals that the geometry of manganese(III) centers in 1 and 2 is square pyramidal and they are pseudo-dimeric in the solid state resulting from the weak bonding of manganese(III) with a catecholate oxygen atom from the adjacent manganese(III) unit together with other weak interactions like hydrogen bonding and π⋯π stacking interactions. On the other hand, complexes 3-5 are discrete octahedral structures.

Methods: Five necropsied cats that were naturally infected with FIP virus, confirmed by reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction and immunohistochemistry, with different intensities of CNS lesions, were studied. Brain and cerebellum were evaluated by light microscopy and immunohistochemistry for glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) and vimentin to assess astrocytic morphology, and lectin histochemistry for Ricinus communis agglutinin-I (RCA-I) to detect microglia was performed to evaluate the glial response in the CNS of cats with FIP.
This study aimed to elucidate aspects of the epidemiology of bovine subclinical mastitis through the assessment of genes encoding MSCRAMM (microbial surface components recognizing adhesive matrix molecules - a group of adhesins) and protein Bap (implicated in biofilm formation), in coagulase-positive (CPS) and coagulase-negative (CNS) Staphylococcus isolated from subclinical mastitis. View Article and Find Full Text PDFGenotyping of seven infectious bronchitis virus (IBV) strains isolated in Brazil showed that all belonged to the common Brazilian genotype and that these strains were closest to the subcluster of strain IBV/Brazil/2007/USP-19. Pathotyping of four selected Brazilian strains showed that they all caused a considerable level of ciliostasis in the trachea but at a somewhat lower level than did M41 and Brazilian strains 50/96, 57/96, 62/96 and 64/96 representing four different serotypes that had been reported earlier. In contrast to the M41 challenge strain, all Brazilian isolates replicated in kidney tissue in a high percentage of non-vaccinated challenged birds, clearly showing that they are nephropathogenic.
