Background: Placenta accreta is an important factor in maternal morbidity and mortality and is responsible for approximately 64% of emergency hysterectomy cases and about 2/3 of cases of puerperal bleeding.
Objectives: To describe a series of cases of prophylactic uterine catheterization performed to prevent significant postpartum bleeding or during caesarean delivery in pregnant women with a previous diagnosis of accretion.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted of medical records of cases of uterine artery catheterization performed during elective or emergency caesarean sections of patients at high risk of postpartum bleeding.
The values used to define the presence of white-coat or masked blood pressure (BP) effects are arbitrary. The aim of this study was to investigate the accuracy of several cutoff points based on the difference between office and home BP (ΔBP) values to detect white-coat uncontrolled (WUCH) and masked uncontrolled (MUCH) hypertension, which are phenotypes with adverse prognoses, in a large cohort of treated hypertensive patients. This multicenter cross-sectional study included 6,049 treated hypertensive patients (40% males, mean age 59.

Methods: A prospective single-center study involving 30 volunteers with no elbow joint changes. Two experienced ultrasound specialists evaluated both elbows of each volunteer, resulting in 60 evaluations per physician and totaling up 120 evaluations.
Objectives: The aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to determine the effects of whole-body vibration training on metabolic abnormalities, mobility, balance and aerobic capacity in older adult patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
Methods: We searched PubMed, Cochrane Library, PEDro, LILACS and SciELO (from the earliest date available to March 2018) for controlled trials that evaluated the effects of whole-body vibration on the health-related outcomes of patients with type 2 diabetes. Two reviewers independently selected the studies and performed statistical analyses of the studies.
Hypertension is a pathology of high prevalence in the world. In Brazil, it is the main risk factor for the major cause of death in the country, coronary heart disease. The May Measurement Month Campaign in 2017 (MMM17) included a population with representation from all Brazilian states and reflects some of the characteristics of hypertension in Brazil.

Methods: The LPA-plus was prospectively evaluated on 341 isolates concurrently submitted to the automated liquid drug susceptibility testing system.
Results: Among 303 phenotypically valid results, none was genotypically rifampicin false-susceptible (13/13; 100% sensitivity).
This paper introduces a strategy for the path planning problem for platforms with limited sensor and processing capabilities. The proposed algorithm does not require any prior information but assumes that a mapping algorithm is used. If enough information is available, a global path planner finds sub-optimal collision-free paths within the known map.

The high efficacy and good safety profile of direct-acting antivirals has led to consensual recommendations for using interferon-free treatment after liver transplantation. However, pegylated interferon may still be required for genotype 3 non-responders.

Despite infection has reportedly varied due to differences in alimentary, cultural and hygienic habits and geographic region, social vulnerability influence on toxoplasmosis distribution remains to be fully established. Accordingly, the present study has aimed to assess T.

More specifically, two quadrotors are used to carry a single load, which is attached to both vehicles, through such kind of cables. The idea of using two quadrotors working cooperatively to carry the load is adopted to suppress any load oscillation in the direction of movement, what would happen if just one UAV were used.

Platelets exert dichotomous effects on the graft and on the patient. On the one hand, they are essential for primary hemostasis and tissue repair and regeneration.

The 6-min stationary walk test associated with virtual reality (STVR-6) was created in light of the current limitations of evaluation tests. It does not require a large physical space or sophisticated equipment, and it is not costly; furthermore, it can be performed by a single rater.

Regular physical exercise can promote benefits, but the MetS individuals are demotivated to perform it. Thus, new possibilities are important as an alternative intervention.

However, significant morbidity is associated with the harvesting of autologous bone grafts and, for that reason, alternative bone graft substitutes have been developed. In the present case series, a glass-reinforced hydroxyapatite synthetic bone substitute, with osteoinductive and osteoconductive proprieties, was applied.

Aims Of The Study: Describe one Portuguese family with GHS due to compound heterozygosity of two new variants.
Methods: Report on the clinical presentation, diagnostic and genetic workup to reach GHS diagnosis.
Aim: To evaluate the diagnostic value of dobutamine stress echocardiography (DSE) and myocardial perfusion scintigraphy (MPS) in predicting coronary artery disease (CAD) in cirrhotic patients listed for liver transplantation (LT), using invasive coronary angiography (ICA) as gold-standard.
Methods: Retrieval of studies was based on Medical Subject Headings and Health Sciences Descriptors, which were combined using Boolean operators. Searches were run on the electronic databases Scopus, Web of Science, EMBASE, MEDLINE (PubMed), BIREME (Biblioteca Regional de Medicina), LILACS (Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences Literature), Cochrane Library for Systematic Reviews and Opengray.
Angus × Hereford calves (n = 159; 87 heifers and 72 steers) were ranked by sex, BW, and age, and assigned to one of three vaccination schemes against bovine respiratory disease (BRD): (i) vaccination at weaning (day 0) and revaccination at feedyard arrival (day 30; CON, n = 53), (ii) vaccination 15 d before weaning (day -15) and revaccination 15 d before feedyard arrival (day 15; EARLY, n = 53), and (iii) vaccination 15 d after weaning (day 15) and revaccination 15 d after feedyard arrival (day 45; DELAYED, n = 53). Calves were maintained on pasture from days -15 to 29, transported (day 30) for 480 km to a commercial growing feedyard, and moved (day 180) to an adjacent finishing yard where they remained until slaughter (day 306). Calf BW was recorded on two consecutive days (days -15, -14, 0, 1, 29, 30, 75, 76, 179, and 180), which were averaged for BW gain calculation.

Neurodevelopmental deficits displayed by individuals with DS are generally global, however, disproportionate deficits in cognitive processes that depend heavily on the hippocampus and prefrontal cortex are also well documented. Additionally, DS is associated with relative strengths in visual processing and visuospatial short-term memory, and weaknesses in the verbal domain.

Methods: Triatomine's intestinal contents were examined, inoculated in mice, and the positive samples were cultivated.
Adenosinergic system regulates vascular tonicity through the complex system of adenosine, adenosine receptors (ARs) and nucleoside transporters. This work aimed at evaluating the impact of hypertension on adenosine bioavailability and expression/distribution profile of AR subtypes (A, A, A, A) and equilibrative nucleoside transporters (ENT1, ENT2, ENT3, ENT4). Adenosine was measured in vascular tissue extracts by HPLC (fluorescence detection); immunoreactivities (ARs/ENTs) in mesenteric arteries/veins from normotensive Wistar Kyoto (WKY) and spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR) were analyzed by histomorphometry.

A total of 105 recently weaned Angus x Hereford calves (75 steers and 30 heifers), originating from eight cow-calf operations, were obtained from an auction facility on day -2 and road transported (800 km; 12 h) to the experimental facility. Immediately after arrival on day -1, shrunk BW was recorded and calves were grouped with free-choice access to grass hay, mineral supplement, and water.
