Objective: To investigate the value of anti-β2 glycoprotein-I domain 1 (aD1) and antiphosphatidylserine-prothrombin antibodies for predicting adverse pregnancy outcomes in an at-risk population and to describe the relationship among aD1, antiphosphatidylserine-prothrombin, lupus anticoagulant, and other antiphospholipid antibodies (aPL).
Methods: Data were obtained from a prospective cohort of pregnant patients with aPL, with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) (n=59) or without SLE (n=106), or SLE without aPL (n=100) (PROMISSE [Predictors of Pregnancy Outcome in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus and Antiphospholipid Syndrome] study; NCT00198068). Levels of aD1 and antiphosphatidylserine-prothrombin were quantified with the QUANTA Flash and QUANTA Lite systems, respectively, in sera collected at less than 18 weeks of gestation.
Background: The characteristic feature of immune cytopenias involves the process of extravascular phagocytosis, wherein macrophages in the spleen and/or liver engage in the destruction of blood cells that have been opsonized by auto- or alloantibodies. Therefore, new treatments that prevent phagocytosis will be advantageous, especially for short-term usage along with alternative options.
Study Design And Methods: KB-208, a small molecule drug, previously shown to be efficacious for the in vitro inhibition of phagocytosis was synthesized.
Antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) diagnosis is dependent on the accurate detection and interpretation of antiphospholipid antibodies (aPL). Lupus anticoagulant (LA), anticardiolipin antibodies (aCL), and anti-beta2 glycoprotein I antibodies (aβ2GPI) remain the cornerstone of the laboratory part of APS diagnosis. In the 2023 American College of Rheumatology (ACR)/European Alliance of Associations for Rheumatology (EULAR) APS classification criteria, the type of laboratory parameters remain essentially unchanged compared with the updated Sapporo classification criteria, and aCL and aβ2GPI measurement are still restricted to enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISAs) with moderate and high titer aPL thresholds defined as 40 and 80 Units, respectively, and a cutoff calculated by the 99th percentile has been abandoned.

However, due to the large coupling and the high anisotropy, thin-film lithium niobate resonators are prone to accidental resonances called spurious modes. These modes compromise the frequency response of the resonators, limiting their use in filter and oscillator applications.

This editorial discusses a recently published paper in the . Our research focuses on p53's regulatory mechanism for controlling ferroptosis, as well as the intricate connection between ferroptosis and liver diseases. Ferroptosis is a specific form of programmed cell death that is de-pendent on iron and displays unique features in terms of morphology, biology, and genetics, distinguishing it from other forms of cell death.

Studies of biodiversity patterns along elevation gradients, mostly on small mammal or bird species, have documented a peak in diversity at mid elevations. Here, we report on a field study of medium and large mammals to examine the impact of elevation, habitat type, and gross primary productivity on community structure.

Yet, high PPH rates persist despite these levels or with prophylactic factor replacement therapy to achieve these levels.
Aims: The current practice at our centre has been to target peak plasma VWF and FVIII:C levels of ≥100 IU/dL at time of delivery.

Background: Long-term anticoagulant therapy is generally recommended for thrombotic antiphospholipid syndrome (TAPS) patients, however it may be withdrawn or not introduced in routine practice.
Objectives: To prospectively evaluate the risk of thrombosis recurrence and major bleeding in non-anticoagulated TAPS patients, compared to anticoagulated TAPS, and secondly, to identify different features between those two groups.
Patients/methods: Using an international registry, we identified non-anticoagulated TAPS patients at baseline, and matched them with anticoagulated TAPS patients based on gender, age, type of previous thrombosis, and associated autoimmune disease.
In antiphospholipid syndrome (APS), the risk of clinical manifestations increases with higher titers of antiphospholipid antibodies (aPL). Despite the adoption of aPL titers in the classification approach to aPL-positive subjects, the value of longitudinal monitoring of those titers in the follow-up is still debated, being well studied only in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). The literature suggests that the rate of aPL positivity decreases during follow-up in primary APS, estimating that seroconversion occurs in between 8.

These antibodies bind cellular phospholipids and phospholipid-protein complexes resulting in cellular activation and inflammation that lead to the clinical features of APS. Our evolving understanding of APS has resulted in more specific classification criteria.

Background: Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is common in pregnancy, yet data are limited on the best diagnostic strategies in pregnant patients suspected of DVT.
Objectives: We conducted a prospective cohort study to evaluate the rate of symptomatic DVT in the 90 days after a negative whole-leg compression ultrasound (CUS) in pregnant women presenting with DVT symptoms.
Methods: In this prospective cohort study, we enrolled pregnant patients suspected of DVT between 2011 and 2019 who were referred to the vascular imaging laboratory at a tertiary care center and had anticoagulation held after a negative whole-leg CUS.
Objective: To develop new antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) classification criteria with high specificity for use in observational studies and trials, jointly supported by the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) and EULAR.
Methods: This international multidisciplinary initiative included four phases: (1) Phase I, criteria generation by surveys and literature review; (2) Phase II, criteria reduction by modified Delphi and nominal group technique exercises; (3) Phase III, criteria definition, further reduction with the guidance of real-world patient scenarios, and weighting via consensus-based multicriteria decision analysis, and threshold identification; and (4) Phase IV, validation using independent adjudicators' consensus as the gold standard.
Results: The 2023 ACR/EULAR APS classification criteria include an entry criterion of at least one positive antiphospholipid antibody (aPL) test within 3 years of identification of an aPL-associated clinical criterion, followed by additive weighted criteria (score range 1-7 points each) clustered into six clinical domains (macrovascular venous thromboembolism, macrovascular arterial thrombosis, microvascular, obstetric, cardiac valve, and hematologic) and two laboratory domains (lupus anticoagulant functional coagulation assays, and solid-phase enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays for IgG/IgM anticardiolipin and/or IgG/IgM anti-β-glycoprotein I antibodies).

A small percentage of couples who regularly donated blood in China tested positive for HBsAg. Although it is well known that blood donors can acquire hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection from a chronically infected sexual partner, the prevalence of occult hepatitis B infections (OBIs) among blood donations from partners of HBV-infected chronically infected spouses and the risk to blood safety remain poorly understood. Among 212 763 blood donors, 54 pairs of couples (108 donations) were enrolled because one partner tested positive for HBsAg.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the independent association between oxytocin use for augmentation and the risk of postpartum hemorrhage by using advanced statistical modeling to control for labor patterns and other covariates.
Study Design: We used data from 20,899 term, cephalic, singleton pregnancies of patients with spontaneous onset of labor and no previous cesarean delivery from Intermountain Healthcare in Utah in the Consortium on Safe Labor.
