The beetle genus has evolved in association with tropical ginger plants and for many species their specific host plant associations are known. Here we show that the core microbiome of six closely related Costa Rican species comprises only eight bacterial groups, including members of the , Enterobacteriacea, , and . The and Enterobacteriacea together accounted for 35% of the total average 16S rRNA ribotypes recovered from all specimens.

Febrile infectious childhood diseases in the history of cancer patients and matched controls.

The present study was designed to investigate the hypothesis that febrile infectious childhood diseases (FICDs) are associated with a lower cancer risk in adulthood, since biographical considerations are of great importance in anthroposophic medicine. Cancer patients and control patients of 35 anthroposophic general practitioners in Switzerland were matched with respect to gender, age and physician. All patients completed a questionnaire on their FICD.
