As the prevalence of cancer continues to rise in the United States due to a combination of both early detection and increased life expectancy, the number of clinically symptomatic skeletal metastases will continue to grow. Healthcare expenditures on cancer treatment have steadily increased each decade to our estimated level of approximately $200 billion in 2020. Metastatic bone disease is a significant driver of this cost, accounting for nearly one-fifth of the total cost of oncologic treatment.
