Clinical presentation is often insidious as a low-grade lesion and disease tends to remain localised for a long period of time. Ileal involvement is rare and presentation within an area of focal anti-mesenteric ileal wall dilation simulating a large diverticulum has not been reported.

In the UK, most patients are selected for treatment if the resection margin is predicted to be involved. The selection criteria used includes primary tumours that threaten the resection margins on high-resolution pelvic MRI and low tumours requiring abdominoperineal excision.

Ultimately, the system has been designed to assist biologists in the process of discovering hitherto unidentified malformation genes. More specifically, it facilitates search from the phenotypic level.

Saint Thomas Hospital, a 571-bed tertiary-care facility, developed a number of strategies designed to allow nurses to focus on skills consistent with professional practice and to reassign technical and clerical duties to other members of the healthcare team. One of the changes implemented was the clinical outcome assessment documentation (COAD) system, which communicates the plan of care without the use of a separate form, expedites charting times, and eliminates duplication.
