This study sought to determine the relationship among broiler performance, organ development, and indicators of microbiota colonization. A total of 1,200 two-day-old male Ross 308 broiler chicks, divided among 3 cohorts of equal size, were housed in battery cages, and allotted based on body weight. On study d 11, birds were weighed, and birds with BW gain within the 10th and 90th percentiles were assigned to the Slow and Fast groups, respectively.

This study was designed to test graded supplementation of a thermostable xylanase in pelleted, wheat-based diets fed to broiler chickens over a 28-d period. A total of 600 Ross 708 male broilers were allotted to 1 of 5 dietary treatments: positive control (PC), negative control (NC; 125 kcal of AME/kg diet reduction relative to PC), and NC supplemented with 10, 15, or 30 g/ton of xylanase. Wheat-soybean meal-based diets were pelleted and fed in 2 feeding phases (14-d each).

Synopsis of recent research by authors named "Brad Gorenz"

  • - Brad Gorenz's recent research primarily focuses on the growth performance and health of broiler chickens, specifically investigating the relationships between organ development, microbiota colonization, and dietary interventions.
  • - One notable study examines how different growth rates in broilers impact organ growth and fermentation profiles, utilizing a controlled environment with carefully monitored body weight groups.
  • - Another study demonstrates that xylanase supplementation in wheat-based diets significantly improves growth efficiency and metabolizable energy while reducing intestinal viscosity, highlighting the benefits of enzyme additions in poultry nutrition.
