Early childhood is foundational for optimal and inclusive lifelong learning, health and well-being. Young children with disabilities face substantial risks of sub-optimal early childhood development (ECD), requiring targeted support to ensure equitable access to lifelong learning opportunities, especially in low- and middle-income countries. View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: Estimates of children and adolescents with disabilities worldwide are needed to inform global intervention under the disability-inclusive provisions of the Sustainable Development Goals. We sought to update the most widely reported estimate of 93 million children <15 years with disabilities from the Global Burden of Disease Study 2004.
Methods: We analyzed Global Burden of Disease Study 2017 data on the prevalence of childhood epilepsy, intellectual disability, and vision or hearing loss and on years lived with disability (YLD) derived from systematic reviews, health surveys, hospital and claims databases, cohort studies, and disease-specific registries.
Objective: To analyze Clinical Global Impression-Severity (CGI-S) in ADHD patients treated with atomoxetine (ATX) monotherapy versus ATX combination therapy with another ADHD-indicated medication.
Methods: This was a 2-site retrospective observational chart review study of child and adult ADHD patients, not necessarily treatment naïve, but treated ≥50 days post baseline with an endpoint assessment. To adjust for measured confounders, monotherapy (n = 77) versus combination (n = 108) cohort comparisons were performed using propensity score stratification and adjusted ANCOVA.
This paper offers an interpretation of Aristotle's treatment of the homoeomerous, or like-parted, bodies. I argue that they are liable to be far more complexly structured than is commonly supposed. While Aristotelian homoeomers have no intrinsic macrostructural properties, they are, in an important class of cases, essentially marked by the presence and absence of microstructural ones.
