The loss of consumers threatens the integrity of ecological systems, but the mechanisms underlying the effects on communities and ecosystems remain difficult to predict. This is, in part, due to the complex roles that consumers play in those systems. Objective: Triple-crossover randomized controlled intervention trial to test whether reduced exposure to household NO or fine particles results in reduced symptoms among children with persistent asthma.

Methods: Children ( = 126) aged 5-11 years with persistent asthma living in homes with gas stoves and levels of NO 15 ppb or greater recruited in Connecticut and Massachusetts (2015-2019) participated in an intervention involving three air cleaners configured for: (1) NO reduction: particle filtration and NO scrubbing; (2) particle filtration: HEPA filter and NO scrubbing; (3) control: particle filtration and NO scrubbing. It is critical to understand how human modifications of Earth's ecosystems are influencing ecosystem functioning, including net and gross community production (NCP and GCP, respectively) and community respiration (CR). These responses are often estimated by measuring oxygen production in the light (NCP) and consumption in the dark (CR), which can then be combined to estimate GCP. However, the method used to create "dark" conditions-either experimental darkening during the day or taking measurements at night-could result in different estimates of respiration and production, potentially affecting our ability to make integrative predictions.

Presession pairing is a well-documented behaviour analytic practice that supports the development of a positive instructional environment and is associated with reduced rates of challenging behaviour among children with developmental disabilities. However, there is limited research evaluating the impact of presession pairing on children's skill acquisition rates. Previously, we reported that cellular transcription factor ZASC1 facilitates DNA-dependent/RNA-independent recruitment of HIV-1 TAT and the cellular elongation factor P-TEFb to the HIV-1 promoter and is a critical factor in regulating HIV-1 transcriptional elongation (PLoS Path e1003712). Here we report that cellular transcription factor ZBTB2 is a novel repressor of HIV-1 gene expression. ZBTB2 strongly co-immunoprecipitated with ZASC1 and was dramatically relocalized by ZASC1 from the cytoplasm to the nucleus.

Objective: The Follow-Up Study of patients previously enrolled in Exubera controlled clinical trials (FUSE) was designed to evaluate whether patients previously treated with Exubera (EXU; insulin human [rDNA origin], inhaled powder) in controlled clinical trials died because of incident primary lung cancer at a substantially higher rate than patients treated with a comparator.

Research Design And Methods: FUSE is a hybrid, randomized, controlled trial/cohort study including participants of 17 prior EXU clinical trials. Pooled patient data from these trials were used, and the subset of patients enrolled in the follow-up cohort study was followed prospectively for 2 years in order to evaluate the incidence of fatal and nonfatal primary lung cancers and all-cause mortality.
