Three-dimensional (3D) instabilities on a (potentially turbulent) two-dimensional (2D) flow are still incompletely understood, despite recent progress. Here, based on known physical properties of such 3D instabilities, we propose a simple, energy-conserving model describing this situation. It consists of a regularized 2D point-vortex flow coupled to localized 3D perturbations ("ergophages"), such that ergophages can gain energy by altering vortex-vortex distances through an induced divergent velocity field, thus decreasing point-vortex energy.

We study this problem in the linear and nonlinear regimes, both theoretically and numerically, for the case of a pitchfork bifurcation with fluctuating growth rate. We realized a retrospective study from 2003 to 2018 comparing two surgical techniques of neuro-fascio-cutaneous sural flap harvesting to improve their reliability: the "vascular pedicle tunneling" method and the "racket-like" flap method. There are 35 flaps in this series from lower distal limb reconstruction: 21 "racket-like" flaps and 14 "tunneling-pedicle" flaps. There were no partial or total necrosis case in the "racket-like" flaps group.

We present numerical evidence of a critical-like transition in an out-of-equilibrium mean-field description of a quantum system. By numerically solving the Gross-Pitaevskii equation we show that quantum turbulence displays an abrupt change between three-dimensional (3D) and two-dimensional (2D) behavior. The transition is observed both in quasi-2D flows in cubic domains (controlled by the amplitude of a 3D perturbation to the flow), as well as in flows in thin domains (controlled by the domain aspect ratio) in a configuration that mimics systems realized in laboratory experiments.

A simple Discrete-Time Quantum Walk (DTQW) on the line is revisited and given an hydrodynamic interpretation through a novel relativistic generalization of the Madelung transform. Numerical results show that suitable initial conditions indeed produce hydrodynamical shocks and that the coherence achieved in current experiments is robust enough to simulate quantum hydrodynamical phenomena through DTQWs. An analytical computation of the asymptotic quantum shock structure is presented.
