Background: After open heart surgery, patients experience high levels of pain at the sternotomy incision site and around the chest tube(s), affecting their recovery. This study was conducted to determine the effects of local anesthetic application around the sternotomy incision site and chest tube(s) on the amount of opioids used and recovery after surgery in patients undergoing open heart surgery.

Methods: This randomized controlled experimental study was conducted with a total of 60 patients, with 30 patients in the experimental group and 30 patients in the control group.

Prediction of single-layer antimony oxyselenide (SbOSe): metal-to-semiconductor transition via hydrogenation.

In this study, the structural, electronic, vibrational, and mechanical properties of single-layer Antimony Oxyselenide (SbOSe) and its hydrogenated structure (SbOSeH) are investigated by performing density functional theory-based first principles calculations. Geometry optimizations reveal that single-layer SbOSecrystallizes in tetragonal structure which is shown to possess dynamical stability by means of phonon band dispersions. In addition, the mechanical stability of the predicted single layer is satisfied via the linear-elastic parameters.

Effects of Heavy Iodine Atoms and π-Expanded Conjugation on Charge Transfer Dynamics in Carboxylic Acid BODIPY Derivatives as Triplet Photosensitizers.

Borondipyrromethene (BODIPY) chromophores are composed of a functional-COOH group at meso position with or without a biphenyl ring, and their compounds with heavy iodine atoms at -2, -6 positions of the BODIPY indacene core were synthesized. The photophysical properties of the compounds were studied with steady-state absorption and fluorescence measurements. It was observed that the absorption band is significantly red-shifted, and fluorescence signals are quenched in the presence of iodine atoms.

Materials And Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the clinical and pathologic parameters in patients with localized renal cell carcinoma (pT1-2N0M0) who had undergone PN between January 2001-December 2018 at one of 15 different tertiary referral centers.
