Objective: The majority of patients with papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) have good outcomes, although the identification of new predictors of a poor prognosis would be beneficial. Chronic thyroiditis is a precancerous condition in which proinflammatory cytokines enhance biologically aggressive features. This study investigated the expression of suppressor of cytokine signaling proteins (SOCS) 1 and 3, which are negative feedback inhibitors, in PTC and benign thyroid nodules (BTN), and analyzed the relations among biomarker expression, pathological prognosis, and clinical features.

Objective: Pathological destruction of insulin signaling molecules such as insulin receptor substrate, especially due to the increase in suppressors of cytokine signaling molecules, has been demonstrated in experimental diabetes. The contribution of suppressors of cytokine signaling proteins to the development of insulin resistance and the effects of antidiabetic drugs and exercise on suppressors of cytokine signaling proteins are not clearly known.

Methods: A total of 48 Wistar albino adult male rats were divided into six groups: control group, obese group with diabetes, obese diabetic rats treated with metformin, obese diabetic rats treated with pioglitazone, obese diabetic rats treated with exenatide, and obese diabetic rats with applied exercise program.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates how treatments like metformin, pioglitazone, exenatide, and exercise affect fatty liver and insulin signaling in obese diabetic rats.
  • The research involved a controlled experiment with 48 male rats that were fed a high-fat diet and then treated with different interventions over 4 weeks.
  • Results showed that exercise significantly reduced liver fat levels and improved insulin signaling compared to untreated obese diabetic rats, making it a potentially effective method for managing fatty liver disease in this context.

Kaposi sarcoma (KS) is a low-grade vascular tumor caused by human herpes virus type 8 (HHV8). Gastrointestinal involvement of KS is rare and most commonly clinically silent. Gastrointestinal KS may mimic gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) histologically as the tumor formed by morphologically spindle-shaped cells, which is mostly located in the mucosa and submucosa.

Diffuse large B cell lymphoma (DLBCL) with spindle cell morphology is a rare variant that can be seen in extranodal regions. Because the spindle cell dominant morphology in lymphoma is extremely unusual, the diagnosis can easily be missed in many organ systems. We present a case of an 82-year-old male patient with complaints of abdominal pain and swelling.

Cervical cancer markedly threatens women's health worldwide and currently ranks fourth leading cause of cancer mortality in women according to recent global cancer statistics. Recent advances have proven that not only tumor suppressor and oncogenes but also non-coding RNAs including micro RNAs (miRNAs) have significant impact in the development and progression of cervical cancers. Previous studies have identified many cancer-specific miRNAs for the early detection of cervical cancers.

Although many studies have been conducted to explore the relationship between mast cells (MC) and angiogenesis, comparison of this relationship with tumor necrosis has not been investigated to the best of our knowledge. Therefore, the relationship between MC and neovascularization in stomach, lung and ovarian malignant epithelial tumors (165 cases) in necrotizing or non-necrotizing cases was explored in this study. We immunohistochemically studied anti-mast cell tryptase antibody for MC and anti-CD34 antibody for vascular structures.

Detailed descriptions of ovarian histology are rare. We reviewed in detail 57 cases of normal ovaries in premenopausal patients, when the ovaries are active and primordial follicles are found. We also proposed updated definitions to more clearly distinguish inclusion cysts, which do not have a known relationship with any disease process, from endosalpingiosis, a lesion closely associated with low grade serous neoplasia of the ovary.

Cutaneous metastasis is considered as a hazardous condition depending on the mean survival around 9 months, which usually originates from cancers of the breast, lung, ovary, colon, and rarely from the cervix. The crucial prognostic factor of cutaneous metastasis depends on the period between the primary malignancy and cutaneous metastasis. We report two cases of the unusual presentation of squamous cell cancer of the cervix that developed vulvar and umbilical metastasis in the 5 month of primary treatment.
