Background: Due to the complex and abstract anatomy of the nervous system, neurology has become a difficult subject for students of clinical disciplines. It is imperative to develop new teaching methods to improve students' enthusiasm for learning this course. Small private online courses (SPOC) combined with problem based learning (PBL) blended teaching models based on massive open online course (MOOC) provides a new direction for future neurology teaching reform.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to identify distinct phenotypes in acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients to facilitate personalized treatment options.
  • In a retrospective analysis of 909 AIS patients, three phenotypes were identified based on clinical and laboratory data: phenotype 1 (younger, obese individuals with high lipid levels), phenotype 2 (patients with abnormal ion levels), and phenotype 3 (high inflammation and multiple-organ dysfunction).
  • The developed Clinlabomics models using support vector machine classifiers showed high accuracy and predictive performance, suggesting the potential for tailored therapies based on these identified phenotypes.

Article Synopsis
  • * The study investigates the role of AXL, a receptor tyrosine kinase, in affecting microglia autophagy and its subsequent impact on an experimental model of autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE).
  • * Researchers found that lack of AXL in microglia worsens inflammation and symptoms by disrupting autophagy through the PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling pathway, leading to increased pro-inflammatory and decreased anti-inflammatory factors.

Background: N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor (NMDAR) is an ionotropic glutamate (Glu) receptor that is widely expressed in the central nervous system (CNS), mainly in the hippocampus. We present a case in which the patient had atypical clinical manifestations and was positive for anti-NMDAR antibodies.

Case Presentation: A 40-year-old male was admitted to the hospital with "dizziness and double vision for 2 months".

Curcumin has been used in the study of central nervous system immune-related diseases and exerts a substantial neuroprotective effect. However, the mechanism remains unclear. The AKT/mTOR autophagy-related signalling pathway plays an important role in tumour therapy, but whether curcumin plays a therapeutic role in multiple sclerosis (MS) through this signalling pathway remains to be determined.

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an immune-mediated disease of the central nervous system (CNS). The present study explored the role of intestinal microbiota in the initiation and propagation of mice induced by experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE), an animal model of multiple sclerosis. 48 C57BL/6 were randomly divided into control group and EAE group.

The present study performed a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials in multiple sclerosis (MS) patients to evaluate the efficacy and safety of anti-B-cell monoclonal antibodies (mAbs). To the best of our knowledge, no previous meta-analysis has evaluated this. Relevant studies published until March 2015 were retrieved from the PubMed, EMBASE and Cochrane Library using the following keywords: 'Clinical trial', 'randomized', 'multiple sclerosis' or 'MS' and 'monoclonal antibodies' or 'mAbs'.
