Visible-thermal small object detection (RGBT SOD) is a significant yet challenging task with a wide range of applications, including video surveillance, traffic monitoring, search and rescue. However, existing studies mainly focus on either visible or thermal modality, while RGBT SOD is rarely explored. Although some RGBT datasets have been developed, the insufficient quantity, limited diversity, unitary application, misaligned images and large target size cannot provide an impartial benchmark to evaluate RGBT SOD algorithms.

Common O-/H-down orientation of HO molecules on electrocatalysts brings favorable OH/H delivery; however, adverse H/OH delivery in their dissociation process hampers the HO dissociation kinetics of the alkaline hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). To overcome this challenge, we raised a synergetic HO dissociation concept of metal-supported electrocatalysts involving efficient OH delivery from O-down HO to the metal, timely proton relay from O-down HO on the metal to H-down HO on the support through the hydrogen-bond network, and prompt H delivery from H-down HO to the support. After theoretically profiling that a high work function difference between the metal and the support (ΔΦ) induces a strong electric field at the metal-support interface that increases hydrogen-bond connectivity to promote proton relay, we practiced this concept over cobalt phosphide-supported ruthenium (Ru/CoP) catalysts with a high ΔΦ = 0.

Metabolic disorders are a significant feature of fibrotic diseases. Nevertheless, the lack of sufficient proof regarding the cause-and-effect association between circulating metabolites and the promotion or prevention of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) persists. To assess the causal association between IPF and genetic proxies of 486 blood metabolites, a dual sample Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis was performed.

Electromagnetic tomography (EMT) has great application potential in fields such as industrial inspection. However, currently, EMT image reconstruction has problems of being highly nonlinear and ill-posed, resulting in artifacts in reconstructed images and uncertainties in quality, detail accuracy, and robustness. To address these challenges, a deep learning model STDBOGAN (generative adversarial network based on spectral normalization, two timescale update rule, and improved dung beetle optimization algorithm) based on generative adversarial networks is proposed.

Cellular senescence is a major contributor to aging-related degenerative diseases, including Alzheimer's disease (AD) but much less is known on the key cell types and pathways driving mechanisms of senescence in the brain. We hypothesized that dysregulated cholesterol metabolism is central to cellular senescence in AD. We analyzed whole transcriptomic data and utilized single-cell RNA seq integration techniques to unveil the convoluted cell-type-specific and sub-cell-type-state-specific senescence pathologies in AD using both ROSMAP and Sea-AD datasets.

What Is Already Known About This Topic?: Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS) is a serious tick-borne disease in East Asia with high mortality, particularly affecting the elderly. Since its discovery in 2010, inconsistencies in small-scale studies and the lack of decade-long research on antibody levels in large population samples after natural infection, along with the absence of an effective vaccine, highlight the need for large-scale, long-term data in high-incidence regions of China.

What Is Added By This Report?: This study of 1,410 serum samples from SFTS patients in high-incidence regions of China reveals that immunoglobulin M (IgM) levels peak at 8-14 days post-infection, declining to nearly undetectable levels by 180 days.

Despite the critical role of sintering phenomena in constraining the long-term durability of nanosized particles, a clear understanding of nanoparticle sintering has remained elusive due to the challenges in atomically tracking the neck initiation and discerning different mechanisms. Through the integration of in situ transmission electron microscopy and atomistic modeling, this study uncovers the atomic dynamics governing the neck initiation of Pt-Fe nanoparticles via a surface self-diffusion process, allowing for coalescence without significant particle movement. Real-time imaging reveals that thermally activated surface morphology changes in individual nanoparticles induce significant surface self-diffusion.
