Problem/background: Australian First Nations people experience disproportionate burdens of poor outcomes compared to non-First Nations people. Further, women living in remote communities face more barriers to care-seeking in pregnancy. Despite work being done in some remote communities, there is limited data exploring women's experiences of pregnancy care, thus a limited understanding of specific barriers and enablers to care-seeking for these women.

Significant Environmental Factors in the Drift of Electrical Properties in Conductive Nano-Composite Sensors for Biomechanical Motion-Tracking.

Wearable nanocomposite stretch sensors are an exciting new development in biomaterials for biomechanical motion-tracking technology, with applications in the treatment of low back pain, knee rehabilitation, fetal movement tracking, and other fields. When strained, the resistance of the low-cost sensors is reduced, enabling human motion to be monitored using a suitable sensor array. However, current sensor technologies have exhibited significant drift, in the form of increased electrical resistance, if left stored in typical room conditions.

Special Commentary: Reporting Clinical Endpoints in Studies of Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery.

Minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) refers to a group of procedures generally characterized by an ab interno approach, minimal trauma to ocular tissue, moderate efficacy, an excellent safety profile, and rapid recovery. The number of MIGS procedures continues to increase, and their use has become widespread among glaucoma and cataract specialists. Standardization of the methodology and reporting of clinical endpoints in MIGS investigations enhances interpretation and comparison across different studies.

Implementation and Evaluation of a Comprehensive Resident Wellness Curriculum During the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of resident-led and faculty-led initiatives for physician wellness after implementation of a resident wellness program.

Design: We initiated a wellness curriculum with both resident and faculty-led components in a large academic OB/GYN residency program in October 2020. The curriculum was created and evaluated using the Logic model.

Probable ponatinib-induced papilledema in a patient with acute lymphocytic leukemia.

Purpose: Papilledema is a very rare complication of leukemia therapies, and particularly tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) therapy. Targeted oncologic therapies are becoming increasingly popular, so it is increasingly important to report rare adverse effects. We present a case of probable papilledema in the setting of ponatinib therapy for acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

Omidenepag Isopropyl in Latanoprost Low/Nonresponders With Primary Open Angle Glaucoma or Ocular Hypertension: A Phase 3, Nonrandomized, Two-Phase, Open-Label Study.

Prcis: This study demonstrates the efficacy and safety of once-daily 0.002% omidenepag isopropyl (OMDI) in patients with primary open angle glaucoma (POAG) or ocular hypertension (OHT) who do not respond or respond poorly to latanoprost.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the intraocular pressure (IOP)-lowering efficacy and safety of OMDI in latanoprost low/nonresponders with POAG or OHT.

Purpose: This study assesses readability, suitability, and accountability of online uveitis patient education materials (PEMs).

Methods: Two uveitis specialists reviewed the top 10 websites on Google for keyword "uveitis," with a PubMed review control. Readability was assessed using an online calculator, suitability using the Suitability Assessment of Materials (SAM) tool, and accountability using JAMA benchmarks.

Breastfeeding Among People With Human Immunodeficiency Virus in North America: A Multisite Study.

Background: In North American countries, national guidelines have strongly recommended formula over breastmilk for people with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) because of concern for HIV transmission. However, data from resource-limited settings suggest the risk is <1% among virally suppressed people. Information regarding breastfeeding experience in high-resource settings is lacking.

Interventions to improve enablers and/or overcome barriers to seeking care during pregnancy, birthing and postnatal period for women living with vulnerabilities in high-income countries: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Objective: To reduce maternal morbidity and mortality, World Health Organization recommendations include: commencing pregnancy care before 12-weeks', at least eight antenatal and four postnatal visits, and attendance of skilled care at birthing. While lower adherence to the recommendation predominates in low- and middle-income countries, it also occurs in some settings in high-income countries. Globally, various strategies are used to optimise maternity care, in line with these recommendations.

Purpose: To examine the characteristics of pediatric ophthalmology fellowship program directors (FPDs) through cross-sectional analysis.

Methods: All pediatric ophthalmology FPDs whose programs participated in the San Francisco Match in January 2020 were included. Information was collected through publicly available sources.

Mangrove ecosystems are among the most economically and ecologically valuable marine environments in the world. Mangroves are effective at long-term carbon storage within their sediments and are estimated to hold 12 billion metric tons of carbon worldwide. These ecosystems are therefore vitally important for carbon sequestration and, by extension, climate change mitigation.

Accounting for Viscoelasticity When Interpreting Nano-Composite High-Deflection Strain Gauges.

High-deflection strain gauges show potential as economical and user-friendly sensors for capturing large deformations. The interpretation of these sensors is much more complex than that of conventional strain gauges due to the viscoelastic nature of strain gauges. This research endeavor developed and tested a model for interpreting sensor outputs that includes the time-dependent nature of strain gauges.

A 40-year-old woman was referred for the assessment of bilateral corneal opacities with gradual visual decline over the course of the past decade. Her past ocular history is significant for bilateral amblyopia and strabismus surgery in both eyes before age 5. The patient's parents were told by her childhood ophthalmologist that she had a hereditary disorder.

Participants: Thirteen websites containing patient education materials for glaucoma were analyzed in this study.

Risk Factors for Failure of Tube Shunt Surgery: A Pooled Data Analysis.

Purpose: To identify the risk factors associated with failure of tube shunt surgery.

Design: Pooled analysis of 3 prospective multicenter, randomized clinical trials.

Methods: A total of 621 patients with medically uncontrolled glaucoma were enrolled, including 276 from the Ahmed Baerveldt Comparison Study, 238 from the Ahmed Versus Baerveldt Study, and 107 from the tube group of the Tube Versus Trabeculectomy Study.

Purpose: To describe a unique incidence of inadvertent filtering bleb creation after intravitreal injections.

Observations: An 84-year-old woman with a history of wet age-related macular degeneration requiring intravitreal injections presented with a Seidel-positive conjunctival cyst. The cyst was in an area where she had received multiple injections and was suspected to be an inadvertent filtering bleb secondary to a full-thickness scleral hole created by these injections.

Engineering Pseudomonas putida for efficient aromatic conversion to bioproduct using high throughput screening in a bioreactor.

Pseudomonas putida KT2440 is an emerging biomanufacturing host amenable for use with renewable carbon streams including aromatics such as para-coumarate. We used a pooled transposon library disrupting nearly all (4,778) non-essential genes to characterize this microbe under common stirred-tank bioreactor parameters with quantitative fitness assays. Assessing differential fitness values by monitoring changes in mutant strain abundance identified 33 gene mutants with improved fitness across multiple stirred-tank bioreactor formats.

Strongyloides stercoralis seropositivity is not associated with increased symptoms in a remote Aboriginal community.

Background: Strongyloides stercoralis is a soil-transmitted helminth, endemic in remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in northern Australia with estimates of prevalences up to 60%. Hyperinfection in the setting of immunosuppression is a rare, but well recognised cause of significant morbidity and mortality. However, the morbidity associated with chronic uncomplicated infection is less well characterised.
