Unlabelled: The prevalence of glucocorticosteroid-induced osteoporosis (GIOP) is well established in higher income countries. There are limited studies showing a wide prevalence of GIOP in Africa. Prospective studies are needed on GIOP in African rheumatology patients to implement appropriate management algorithms.

A rare case of sphenoid giant cell tumor: Case report & review of imaging features post short-term denosumab treatment.

Giant cell tumors (GCTs) are locally aggressive but rarely malignant bone neoplasms that uncommonly involve the skull. In this report, we describe a tumor of the sphenoid sinus. A 51-year-old female was presented with headache, and bilateral decreased visual acuity, CT scan, and brain MRI revealed an infra-sellar enhancing tumor expanding to the sellar and supra-sellar region which proved to be a GCT.

Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans: From Basic to Advanced Research.

Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans is a major periodontal pathogen that was identified firstly in actinomycotic lesions and later in advanced forms of periodontal diseases as well as in oral cavity of healthy subjects. The particular pathogenicity of this specie makes it a target for extensive studies both at fundamental and practical scales. The current advances in experimental and clinical research related to this bacterium focus the light on epidemiologic features, virulence, and invasiveness aspects as well as on identification challenges, bacterial susceptibility, and anti-virulence strategies.

Fibrin sealant versus sutures in periodontal surgery: A systematic review.

Background: The aim of this systematic review was to assess the effectiveness of fibrin sealant compared to sutures in periodontal surgery.

Methods: Five electronic databases (PubMed, Scopus, EBSCO, Cochrane and Web of Science) were screened from initiation to January 2021 for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) comparing fibrin sealant to sutures in periodontal surgery using this search equation: (Periodont* OR Periodontitis) AND ("fibrin tissue adhesive" OR "fibrin glue" OR "fibrin sealant" OR "fibrin sealant system" OR "fibrin adhesive system" OR "fibrin fibronectin sealant system"). Quality assessment of the included studies was performed using the revised tool to assess risk of bias in randomized trials (RoB 2).

Management of Esthesioneuroblastoma: A Retrospective Study of 6 Cases and Literature Review.

Optimization of reservoir operating curves and hedging rules using genetic algorithm with a new objective function and smoothing constraint: application to a multipurpose dam in Morocco.

Long-term operation optimization of multipurpose reservoirs is highly important in arid and semi-arid countries challenged by climate change. This paper suggests an objective function combining two competitive shortage indicators for multi-objective reservoir operation optimization. An improved genetic algorithm including a smoothing constraint, reducing infeasible fluctuations of the operation policy, is developed to solve this problem.

Our study reports 4 cases of male patients with wounds on the anterior face of the knee loosing cutaneous substance after motorcycle accident. The patients had undergone surgery involving the debridement and the application of four proximally based sural fasciocutaneous flaps since 2012. Antimicrobial activity of honey in periodontal disease: a systematic review.

Background: Honey has shown positive antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory actions in several dermatological studies; however, it is unclear if it could be effective in the treatment of periodontal disease.

Objectives: To answer the question: Does honey have antimicrobial activity against periodontopathogens?

Methods: Six electronic databases were screened from initiation to 31 January 2019 for randomized clinical trials (RCTs) and controlled in vitro studies exploring the antimicrobial effect of honey against periodontopathogens. Honey's botanical origin, periopathogens that showed microbial susceptibility to honey, MICs, microbial growth conditions, control product and clinical follow-up were the main investigated outcomes.

Ordered mesoporous cerias were synthesised by employing metal- and halogen-free ordered mesoporous carbons (OMCs) as the hard templates in a 'nanocasting' procedure. TEM, small angle (SA) and wide angle (WA) XRD, and N physisorption analyses were used to characterise the templates, intermediates and ceria products and electron tomography (STEM-HAADF) was used to explore the 3D morphology of the ceria nanostructures grown within the carbon templates. This allowed the relationships between the structures of the OMC templates and the products to be considered in detail as two parameters were varied.

[The impact of periodontal therapy on the diabetes control: A systematic review].

Purpose: The bidirectional relationship between diabetes and periodontal disease has been established. Diabetes is a risk factor for periodontal disease while periodontal disease is a complication of diabetes. The objective of this systematic review is to determine whether the administration of periodontal therapy compared to the absence of this treatment would have an impact on the diabetes control in diabetic patients with periodontitis.

Phenolic Compounds and Bioactivity of Pourr.

The present study focuses on the chemical composition, antioxidant, antimicrobial, and antiproliferative activities of the ethyl acetate and aqueous extracts obtained from the aerial parts of Pourr. HPLC-DAD-ESI/MSn was used to identify the phenolic compounds, being (epi)gallocatechin dimer the major compound (111 ± 5 µg/g·dw) in the aqueous extract, while myricetin--rhamnoside (226 ± 9 µg/g·dw) was the main molecule in the ethyl acetate extract. Both extracts exhibited good scavenging activities against DPPH radical (EC µg/mL of 59 ± 2 and 31 ± 2 for aqueous and ethyl acetate extracts, respectively).

Associated factors with psychological distress in Moroccan breast cancer patients: A cross-sectional study.
