To determine the prevalence of functional, respiratory and renal impairments and of post-intensive-care-syndrome (PICS) among patients who had attended a post-ICU multidisciplinary consultation (post-ICU-MC) around 3 months after ICU discharge, we performed a retrospective, monocentric observational study, at Clermont Ferrand University hospital, France. We included patients who had attended a post-ICU-MC. Their characteristics during ICU stay and at the post-ICU-MC were collected.

Objective: The objective of this study was to identify homogeneous subgroups of patients (clusters) using baseline characteristics including inflammatory biomarkers and the extent of lung parenchymal lesions on CT, and to compare their outcomes.
Design: Retrospective single-center study.
Background: The clinical significance of early-onset acute kidney injury (EO-AKI) and recovery in severe COVID-19 intensive care unit (ICU) patients is poorly documented.
Objective: The aim of the study was to assess the epidemiology and outcome of EO-AKI and recovery in ICU patients admitted for SARS-CoV-2 pneumonia.
Design: This was a retrospective single-centre study.
Background & Aims: The intensity and duration of the catabolic phase in COVID-19 patients can differ between survivors and non-survivors. The purpose of the study was to assess the determinants of, and association between, nitrogen balance trajectories and outcome in critically ill COVID-19 patients.
Methods: This retrospective monocentric observational study involved patients admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of the University Hospital of Clermont Ferrand, France, from January 2020 to May 2021 for COVID-19 pneumonia.
Background: Septic shock is a major public health problem that is associated with up to 50% mortality. Unfavorable outcomes are mainly attributed to multiple organ failure (MOF) resulting from an uncontrolled inflammatory response and ischemia-reperfusion processes. REmote ischemic COnditioning (RECO) is a promising intervention to prevent ischemia-reperfusion injury.

As the new device Spectra Optia (SPO; Terumo BCT) was available, we studied its performances in repeated procedures in 20 patients in three apheresis units. First we analysed the performance results obtained by SPO.

The CD34+ cell collection efficiencies of two cell separators (CS-3000+ and Amicus, Baxter) were tested on two comparable groups of oncology patients.
Study Design And Methods: Leukapheresis assisted by the standard manufacturer's software and variables settings was performed in 37 (CS-3000+) and 34 (Amicus) patients (total of 83 and 67 collections, respectively) after chemotherapy plus G-CSF treatment.

The latest generation of cell separators such as Trima (Gambro), Amicus (Baxter) and AS-TEC 204 (Fresenius), allow the collection of leucocyte-reduced platelet concentrates without secondary filtration. Fresenius has recently developed the COMTEC cell separator whose performance has been evaluated by several teams in France. This new cell separator is an improved version of the Fresenius AS-TEC 204 cell separator, designed to allow more efficient platelet collections.

Between 1980 and 1996, we transplanted 72 patients with CML using blood stem cells collected at diagnosis before treatment and without any mobilization. The median age of patients at diagnosis was 47.5 years (range 20.

The biggest difficulty in interpreting published reports lies in the methods used to quantify residual leukocytes. As automated cell counters are not precise and sensitive enough to detect low cell counts, we compared two techniques: i) the classical method using the Nageotte haemocytometer; and ii) fluorescent staining with propidium iodide (PI).

Women with recurrent spontaneous abortions of unknown etiology were treated with injection of their partner's lymphocytes. The effect of lymphocyte immunization is evaluated by various immunological tests. The results demonstrate the appearance of immunosuppressive factors, especially P4 protein, present in normal pregnancy, which inhibits cellular cytotoxicity.

They were given cyclophosphamide (120 mg/kg) and total body irradiation (1,000-1,200 rads) (five patients) or busulfan (16 mg/kg) and melphalan (140 mg/m2) before the transfusion of 6.7 X 10(8) nucleated cells/kg corresponding to 19.

Leukaphereses (n = 263) were performed during the marrow regeneration phase following different types of chemotherapy. The mean number of CFU-GM collected per leukapheresis was 486 x 10(4), highest levels of CFU-GM being obtained in patients who received the most intensive chemotherapy and who had not been treated previously.
