Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to explore how community-based physical therapists use collaborative goal-setting practices with clients who have chronic conditions and to assess the rates at which these clients achieve their goals.
  • A review of charts from 296 home-care clients revealed that demographic factors like sex, age, or number of chronic conditions did not significantly influence the type or success rate of self-management (SM) goals set for clients.
  • The findings suggest that most goals were "action" oriented and that a high percentage of both SM and non-self-management (NSM) goals were successfully achieved, indicating the potential for effective goal-setting across diverse client backgrounds.
