Background: Nocardiosis, a bacterial opportunistic infection caused by spp, has recently been reported in patients with anti-granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) autoantibodies, but insufficient data are available about disease presentation, outcomes, and occurrence of autoimmune pulmonary alveolar proteinosis (aPAP) in this population.

Methods: We performed a prospective, multicenter, nationwide study in France and included patients with a infection who had anti-GM-CSF autoantibodies. We describe their clinical, microbiological, and radiological characteristics, and their outcome at 1 year of follow-up.

Sample preparation on cryo-EM grids can give various results, from very thin ice and homogeneous particle distribution (ideal case) to unwanted behavior such as particles around the "holes" or complexes that do not entirely correspond to the one in solution (real life). We recently run into such a case and finally found out that variations in the 3D reconstructions were systematically correlated with the grid batches that were used. Cyclodipeptide synthases (CDPSs) catalyze the synthesis of various cyclodipeptides by using two aminoacyl-tRNA (aa-tRNA) substrates in a sequential mechanism. Here, we studied binding of phenylalanyl-tRNA to the CDPS from (-CDPS) by gel filtration and electrophoretic mobility shift assay. These include formation of dozens RNA helices through Watson-Crick base-pairing within ribosomal RNAs (rRNAs) and between rRNAs and small nucleolar RNAs (snoRNAs), transient association of hundreds of proteinaceous assembly factors to nascent precursor (pre-)ribosomes, and stable assembly of ribosomal proteins.
