The protection of the aquatic environment while managing the risk of water scarcity in the Mediterranean region is challenging. Ensuring future sustainability of water resources needs improved monitoring networks and early warning system of future trends of water quality. A specific concern is given to nonpoint source pollution from agriculture, which is often the main source of water quality degradation in rivers.

Methods: Thirty patients received a total of 44 transplants of immature teeth from 1987 to 1997. Seventeen of those patients with 25 transplants were recalled 10-20 years after tooth transplantation for complete clinical and radiographic examinations, followed by questionnaires that examined the patients' degrees of satisfaction.
Background: The objective is to compare primary repair vs intestinal resection in cases of intestinal typhoid perforations. In addition, we hypothesised the usefulness of laparostomy for the early diagnosis and treatment of complications.
Methods: 111 patients with acute peritonitis underwent emergency laparotomy: number of perforations, distance of perforations from the ileocaecal valve, and type of surgery performed were recorded.

Protein binding to implants is governed by the physicochemical properties of the biomaterial surface. The adhesion of a protein onto a solid surface is nonspecific. The aim of this study was to assess the adsorption process of fibrinogen at two different dental implants.

The clinical events, positive skin tests, and a high level of immunoglobin E to formalin RAST (class 4) suggest the involvement of immunoglobin E-dependent mechanisms toward formaldehyde. This very infrequent observation in endodontic therapy focuses attention on the different pathological manifestations related to formalin, their mechanisms, and the prevention possibilities in dentistry.

The 29-year-old male under discussion presents all the typical features of the syndrome, having short stature, dysmorphic craniofacial features, total alopecia and pseudoanodontia. Orally, the erupted primary dentition was extremely worn and on radiographic examination, the second mandibular molars were found to be unerupted, together with the entire permanent dentition.

Transferrin stimulated the mitotic and [3H]-thymidine labelling indices. These data were correlated with immunolocalization of the transferrin receptor using indirect immunofluorescence and specific monoclonal antibodies.

The accumulation of sulfated GAG in embryonic mouse molars before, during, and after terminal differentiation of odontoblasts was localized by [35S]autoradiography combined with the use of chondroitin ABC lyase. Much more sulfated GAG were accumulated in the dental papilla than in the dental epithelium. High incorporation of [35S]sulfate occurred at the epithelio-mesenchymal junction, which is the site of dental basement membrane and predentin.

First mandibular embryonic mouse molars (day 18) were cultured for 8 days. Maintenance of crown pattern and amelogenesis were studied in function of different culture conditions. Grown on top of semi-solid coagulum (composed of cock plasma, embryonic extract, fetal calf serum and MEM or BGjb) the typical crown pattern was always conserved.
