Background: Extended-spectrum β-lactamase-producing Enterobacterales (E-ESBL) are commensal multidrug-resistant (MDR) bacteria of the digestive tract whose prevalence has risen sharply worldwide and in Europe over the past two decades.
Aim: To assess digestive carriage at hospital readmission of a large cohort of 2509 patients with E-ESBL carriage over a five-year survey; 833 (33%) patients were readmitted at least once.
Methods: A retrospective, single-centre survey conducted at a tertiary care hospital in France.
We conducted a retrospective study from 2005 to 2019 to describe the epidemiology and mortality of enterobacterial producing extended-spectrum β-lactamase (E-ESBL) infections in our university hospital over a 17-year period of time. Clinical and microbiological data were extracted from different software used for continuous surveillance. Stool samples from systematic screening for E-ESBL colonization were excluded from the study.

Pulsed-field gel electrophoresis showed that five of eight cases were infected with a clonal strain. Breast pumps, shared among mothers in the unit, could have contributed to the spread of the clonal spread.

Systemic use of voriconazole (VCZ) might be restricted by adverse events, such as hepatotoxicity and neurotoxicity, or drug-drug interactions. Topical VCZ application to skin may help to treat local infection more effectively and limit unwanted whole-body exposure. Topical VCZ cream was stable for 90 days when refrigerated.

The diode response as a function of the flux of photons resulted accurately linear over almost three orders of magnitude. Apart from a limited number of deficient detectors, promptly replaced with new ones, the spread of the diode responses (84 detectors) is about 20% total of the average value.
