The predictive maintenance of electrical machines is a critical issue for companies, as it can greatly reduce maintenance costs, increase efficiency, and minimize downtime. In this paper, the issue of predicting electrical machine failures by predicting possible anomalies in the data is addressed through time series analysis. The time series data are from a sensor attached to an electrical machine (motor) measuring vibration variations in three axes: X (axial), Y (radial), and Z (radial X).

Design parameters for Airy beams in light-sheet microscopy.

We derive analytical expressions for the length, thickness, and curvature of an Airy light sheet in terms of basic parameters of the cubic phase and the paraxially defined focusing optics that form the beam. The length and thickness are defined analogously to the Rayleigh range and beam waist of a Gaussian beam, hence providing a direct and quantitative comparison between the two beam types. The analytical results are confirmed via numerical Fresnel propagation simulations and discussed within the context of light-sheet microscopy, providing a comprehensive guide for the design of the illumination unit.

MRI in acute simple elbow dislocations: correlation of preoperative imaging and intraoperative findings of collateral ligaments and associated soft tissue injuries.

Purpose: The aim of our study was the evaluation of correspondence among collateral ligaments and other soft tissue injuries detected by MRI and by intraoperative findings in a consecutive series of patients treated for simple elbow dislocation.

Methods: After clinical and MRI examination, 16 out of 59 consecutive patients with moderate or severe instability after simple elbow dislocation were addressed to surgical treatment. There were 14 men and 2 women.

Use of prescription drugs and future delinquency among adolescent offenders.

Non-medical use of prescription drugs (NMUPD) by adolescents is a significant public health concern. The present study investigated the profile of NMUPD in 1349 adolescent offenders from the Pathways to Desistance project, and whether NMUPD predicted future delinquency using longitudinal data. Results indicated that increased frequency and recency of NMUPD in adolescent offenders are related to some demographic factors, as well as increased risk for violence exposure, mental health diagnoses, other drug use, and previous delinquency, suggesting that severity of NMUPD is important to consider.

Parental Strain, Mental Health Problems, and Parenting Practices: A Longitudinal Study.

Although poor parenting practices place youth living in under resourced communities at heightened risk for adjustment difficulties, less is known about what influences parenting practices in those communities. The present study examines prospective linkages between three latent constructs: parental strain, mental health problems and parenting practices. Parental victimization by community violence and life stressors were indicative of parental strain; depressive, anxious, and hostile symptoms were indicators of parental mental health; and parental knowledge of their child's activities and child disclosure were indicators of parenting practices.

Bone marrow-derived cell mobilization by G-CSF to enhance osseointegration of bone substitute in high tibial osteotomy.

Purpose: To evaluate granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) efficacy in accelerating bone regeneration following opening-wedge high tibial valgus osteotomy for genu varum.

Methods: A phase II trial was conducted for evaluating the preoperative administration of G-CSF given at 10 μg/kg/day for 3 consecutive days with an additional half-dose 4 h before the opening-wedge high tibial valgus osteotomy. Overall, 12 patients (Group A) received G-CSF treatment, and the subsequent 12 patients (Group B) underwent surgery without G-CSF.

The effects of diminishing albumin binding to some Endothelin receptor antagonists.

As a pharmacological class, Endothelin-A receptor (ET(A)) antagonists are highly bound (>98%) to serum albumin. In the presence of physiological concentrations of albumin, their affinities for ET(A) decrease 10 to 100 fold. We have prepared ET(A) antagonists which exhibit lower degrees of binding to albumin, while maintaining potency and selectivity for the ET(A) receptor.

Synthesis of 9-deoxo-4''-deoxy-6,9-epoxyerythromycin derivatives: novel and acid-stable motilides.

The myc gene family has been implicated in multiple cell processes including proliferation, differentiation, tumorigenesis, and apoptosis. For its cellular growth promoting function, Myc must heterodimerize with Max. To study the effect of Myc inactivation on the growth and differentiation properties of epithelial tumor cells, we transfected the H-630 human colon cancer cell line with bm-max, a mutant Max protein in which DNA-binding activity has been abolished.

[Pneumothorax in multiple trauma. Radiologic and CT study].

This study was aimed at evaluating the necessity to perform chest Computerized Tomography (CT) in multiple traumatized patients to diagnose pleuropulmonary lesions and, particularly, pneumothorax: the correct identification of this condition, although minimal, is important especially in prevision of long anesthesias and/or positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP) therapy. This assisted respiratory technique improves arterial oxygenation but causes a barotrauma which may cause some complications; particularly, a small undetected pneumothorax can suddenly increase so as to cause pulmonary collapse with sometimes dramatic symptoms. Chest X-ray films and CT scans, performed in rapid succession on patient's admission in Emergency Ward, were compared in 21 subjects.

Expression of a monocyte chemotactic cytokine by human mononuclear phagocytes.

The present study was designed to investigate the capacity of human mononuclear phagocytes to produce a cytokine chemotactic for monocytes (monocyte chemotactic protein (MCP), alternative acronyms JE, monocyte chemotactic and activating factor, MCP-1, and tumor-derived chemotactic factor). Human PBMC exposed in vitro to bacterial LPS expressed high levels of MCP transcripts. Monocyte-depleted lymphoid cells were not induced to express MCP by LPS.

Interleukin 4 amplifies monocyte chemotactic protein and interleukin 6 production by endothelial cells.

Upon exposure to interleukin 4 (IL-4), human umbilical vein endothelial cells (EC) produced low amounts of IL-6 and expressed low levels of IL-6 transcripts. While being a weak stimulus for IL-6 production, IL-4 amplified the release and mRNA expression of this cytokine in response to optimal concentrations of IL-1. IL-4 also induced low levels of monocyte chemotactic protein but amplified the expression of this chemoattractant in response to inflammatory signals.
