Identification of molecules in complex natural matrices relies on matching the fragmentation spectra of ions under investigation and the spectra acquired for the corresponding analytical standards. Currently, there are many databases of experimentally measured tandem mass spectrometry spectra (such as NIST, MzCloud, and Metlin), and considerable progress has been made in the development of software for predicting tandem mass spectrometry fragments in silico using combinatorial, machine learning, and quantum chemistry approaches (such as MetFrag, CFM-ID, and QCxMS). However, the electrospray ionization molecules can be ionized at different sites (protonated or deprotonated), and the fragmentation spectra of such ions are different.

The timely diagnosis and treatment of post-infectious glomerulonephritis (PIGN) is currently limited by the erased and low-symptom nature of the disease, which leads to the search for informative biological markers of the disease, which can be used as immunological indicators of blood and urine. The study was carried out in order to establish the characteristic changes in the immunological parameters of blood and urine in patients with PIGN. The study included 60 patients with PIGN from among the patients, hospitalized in the nephrology department of the Republican Clinical Hospital of Health Care Ministry of the Chuvash Republic in 2015-2018.

The main objective of this study is to explore the relationships between the three commonly used proxies of health, morbidity, functional limitation, and subjective health, using the most recent data from 18 European countries. The existing studies on the topic are outdated, limited to the United States and to elderly population. Data on 32,679 respondents of the European Social Survey (2014) were analyzed using structural equation modeling.

Over the past decade, there has been a great interest in hematological indicators as markers for assessing the severity of coronary artery disease and stratifying the risk of cardiovascular events in patients with acute coronary syndrome. To understand the possibility of using hematological indicators as predictors of adverse outcomes in this category of patients, the question of clarifying their age-related changes became a question. This study discusses age-related changes in hematological parameters in patients with acute coronary syndrome.

Background: Problems with social networks and social support are known to be associated with mental ill-health in refugees. Social support after migration promotes resilience.

Aim: To study how Iraqi refugees who arrived in Sweden after the year 2000 perceived their social networks and social support, and to relate the observed network characteristics and changes to the refugees' mental health and well-being.

Background: Studies of factors associated with the use of Internet-based health information generally focus on general, rather than migrant populations. This study looked into the reasons why Internet-based health information is used and the effects of migration-related factors, other socio-demographic characteristics and health-related factors on the tendency to consult the Internet.

Methods: In a cross-sectional survey conducted in eight superdiverse neighbourhoods - two each in Birmingham, United Kingdom; Bremen, Germany; Lisbon, Portugal and Uppsala, Sweden - participants were presented with six scenarios and asked to indicate the resources they most relied on when addressing a health concern from a given list.

We studied cytotoxic activity of new tetranitrosyl NO-generating binuclear iron-sulfur [Fe-S] complexes containing different ligands in the molecule against tumor cells in vitro. Cytotoxic activity of the most active complex with cysteamine (CysAm) was compared with that of antitumor drug cisplatin. Caspase activation and morphological changes in cells were visualized by fluorescence microscopy.

The episode of acute coronary syndrome is most often preceded by the development of systemic and local inflammation, which plays a significant role in the pathogenesis of the disease. General clinical blood analysis, directly or indirectly reflecting systemic pathological processes in the patient's body based on quantitative and morphological assessment of blood composition, is one of the most affordable methods of laboratory diagnostics in modern public health. Taking into account the growing number of digital data obtained by diagnosticians from analytical systems, there is a growing potential for the use of machine learning methods to increase the effectiveness of provided diagnostic information in the interests of the patient.

We studied specific antitumor activity of a liposomal drug based on tetra-3-phenylthiophthalocyanine aluminum hydroxide (lipophthalocyan) intended for photodynamic therapy. The optimal dose and protocol for photodynamic therapy with lipophthalocyan were chosen in experiments on mice: single intravenous dose of 6 mg/kg with a 5-h interval between administration and laser exposure and irradiation energy density of 400 J/cm. A wide spectrum antitumor activity of lipophthalocyan was demonstrated in vivo for various transplantable mouse tumors (Lewis lung epidermoid carcinoma, S37 sarcoma, and colon adenocarcinoma AKATOL).

The syndrome of senile asthenia (frailty) in patients with acute coronary syndrome is recognized as one of the risk factors for the development of adverse outcomes after undergoing cardiosurgical interventions, and the search for an optimal method for assessing this syndrome could be a screening to identify patients at increased risk. This study compares two methods for assessing senile asthenia syndrome in patients with acute coronary syndrome, its prevalence in this category of patients, its relationship with clinical characteristics and 1-year mortality after hospitalization. According to the results of the study, senile asthenia syndrome was observed more often in the group of patients older than 75 years.

Objectives: Determinants of health in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) have been discussed primarily in relation to the transition of the 1990's and early 2000's, citing lifestyles as the main culprit. This paper tries to draw a bigger picture of the health determinants in CEE in the first decade of the 21st century. To do so, the two main analytical approaches to health are united in one setting.

We performed an in vivo comparative study of activity of three substances of the nitrosourea group produced in Russia. All substances demonstrated high antitumor activity against various solid and leukemic tumors. Aranosa significantly enhanced life duration in mice with leukemia (by 65-194%) and inhibited the growth of solid tumors (by 49-99.

We have performed a comparative analysis of the bio-oil produced by thermal liquefaction of microalgae in different solvents using high-resolution Orbitrap mass spectrometry and GC-MS approach. Water, methanol, ethanol, butanol, isopropanol, acetonitrile, toluene, and hexane were used as solvents in which the liquefaction was performed. It was observed that all resulting oils demonstrate a considerable degree of similarity.

We present the simple microprobe for the investigation of crude oil by a thermal desorption photoionization coupled to Orbitrap mass spectrometry. The droplet of crude oil was placed on the heating element with controllable temperature. The temperature was linearly increased, and crude oil vapors were ionized by a vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) lamp and detected by Orbitrap mass spectrometer.

Natural complex mixtures such as oil and dissolved organic matter play an important role in the economy and in the global carbon cycle. One of the most promising approaches for the investigation of the chemical structure of such substances is the combination of the high-resolution mass spectrometry and selective chemical reactions. Here, we report the investigation of the ozonation products of natural complex mixtures using Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry.

Background: Unmet need can be defined as the individually perceived subjective differences between services judged necessary to deal with health problems and the services actually received. This study examines what factors are associated with unmet need, as well as how reasons for unmet need are distributed across socioeconomic and demographic groups in Europe.

Methods: Multilevel logistic regression models were employed using data from the 7th round of the European Social Survey, on people aged 25–75.

Cytestrole acetate (CA), in the structure of which the steroidal antiestrogen component is associated with bis-β-cloroethylamino group, exhibits a strong cytotoxic activity against hormone-dependent cancer cell lines (CaOV, HeLa, MCF-7). In doxorubicin-resistant MCF-7 cells, CA potentiates the cytotoxic effect of etoposide and doxorubicin, and the IC50 for CA in these cells is 40 times lower than that for tamoxifen (TAM). In transplantable mice breast adenocarcinoma Ca-755, the therapeutic CA dose is 25 mg/kg when administered subcutaneously in oil solution for 5 days.
