Article Synopsis
  • The COVID-19 pandemic prompted countries to enforce lockdowns, leading to a rise in visits to forests and green spaces as a recreational response.
  • Researchers studied how changes in work conditions and COVID-19 infection rates affected forest visits in Switzerland during the lockdown, using data from surveys conducted before and after the lockdown began.
  • Their findings showed that people who visited forests both before and during the lockdown increased their visit frequency, boosted by the option to work from home, while the duration of these visits decreased, with infection rates having no impact.
