Background: Carnosic acid (CA) has potential anti-cancer properties, but its effectiveness can be improved by combining it with Folic acid (FA). This research aimed to evaluate the impact of CA and CA-FA conjugate on breast cancer cell lines (MCF-7, MDA-MB-231, and MCA10).
Materials And Methods: The viability of the cell lines was measured using the MTT assay, and the IC₅₀ was determined to compare the cytotoxicity of CA and CA-FA.
Mass transfer to the reactive wall of a curved cylindrical tube is analyzed in the combined entry region where both momentum and concentration boundary layers are developing. The velocity and concentration distributions developing from uniform inlet profiles are obtained using perturbation analysis, accounting for acceleration of the inviscid flow outside the boundary layer arising from channel curvature and flow displacement. The enhancement in the average flux of the reactive species at the tube wall downstream of the inlet is determined and compared to predictions of numerical simulations.

While there is a significant body of knowledge about how lipid composition and dynamics affect membrane-bound enzymes, little is known about how enzyme catalysis influences the motility and lateral transport on lipid membranes. When this secondary flow toward the concave (outer) wall is too strong to be dissipated by viscous effects, an additional pair of vortices emerges near the outer wall. Combining numerical simulation and dimensional analysis, we find that the critical condition for the onset of the second vortex pair depends on γ^{1/2}Dn (γ: channel aspect ratio; Dn: Dean number).

Patients often present with nonspecific symptoms such as painless visible mass that might be misdiagnosed with every mass in genital and pelvic sites in reproductive-age women.
Case Presentation: We describe a 31-year-old female presenting with an enlargement on the right labia majora.
Photothermal atomic force microscopy coupled with infrared spectroscopy (AFM-IR) brings significant value as a spatially resolved surface analysis technique for disordered oxide materials such as glasses, but additional development and fundamental understanding of governing principles is needed to interpret AFM-IR spectra, since the existing theory described for organic materials does not work for materials with high extinction coefficients for infrared (IR) absorption. This paper describes theoretical calculation of a transient temperature profile inside the IR-absorbing material considering IR refraction at the interface as well as IR adsorption and heat transfer inside the sample. This calculation explains the differences in peak positions and amplitudes of AFM-IR spectra from those of specular reflectance and extinction coefficient spectra.

Methods: This randomised controlled trial conducted from January 2018 until December 2018. Pregnant women below 34 weeks of gestation, with Hb concentration less than 11 g/dL and serum ferritin level less than 12 ug/L were randomised to receive either one tablet Zincofer or one tablet Iberet Folate daily for four weeks.

The anti-tumor compound was synthesized through a modified sol-gel method by addition of a low-cost molecule with recently proven anti-tumor properties which was combusted and flash-cooled along with magnetic iron oxides precursors at 250 °C. The synthesized compound consisted in carbon dots, graphene and hematite nanoparticles which endowed the composite with unique simultaneous fluorescence, magnetic and anti-tumor properties.

This study was conducted in 2017, in 10 primary schools in the Western Cape, South Africa within lower (second and third) and higher (fourth and fifth) quintiles.
Objectives: The primary objective of this study was to determine treatment effect at six months after intervention of grade 7 participants (Classroom Communication Resource [CCR] intervention versus no CCR) using global Stuttering Resource Outcomes Measure (SROM) scores in school clusters.
Objectives: To investigate methodological quality of published dose-response meta-analysis (DRMA) and explore study characteristics associated with the quality.
Study Design And Setting: We searched three databases for published DRMAs and used a modified AMSTAR (15 items) checklist to assess the methodological quality. We summarized the compliance of those DRMAs to the AMSTAR items and used multivariable regression analysis to explore the association between prespecified study characteristics with the overall methodological quality.
While randomised controlled trials (RCTs) are considered the gold standard of research, prior study is needed to determine the feasibility of a future large-scale RCT study. Objectives: This pilot study, therefore, aimed to determine feasibility of an RCT by exploring: (1) procedural issues and (2) treatment effect of the Classroom Communication Resource (CCR), an intervention for changing peer attitudes towards children who stutter. Method: A pilot cluster stratified RCT design was employed whereby the recruitment took place first at school-level and then at individual level.
