Anterior shoulder instability with glenoid bone lesion can be treated with the Eden-Hybinette procedure utilizing a tricortical iliac crest bone graft or the Latarjet procedure. This study aimed to evaluate the glenohumeral joint (GHJ) kinematics throughout an external shoulder rotation following the Eden-Hybinette and Latarjet procedures. Nine human specimens were examined with dynamic radiostereometry during a GHJ external rotation with anteriorly directed loads from 0 to 30 N.

Exploiting endovascular aortic repair as a minimally invasive method - Nine years of experience in a non-university hospital.

Background: At the introduction of endovascular aortic repair (EVAR) in 2013 in our non-university hospital, we established a quality registry to monitor our EVAR activity.

Purpose: To observe if we over time were able to exploit EVAR as a minimally invasive method in an elective as well as emergency setting, and to monitor our treatment quality in terms of complications, secondary interventions and mortality.

Material And Methods: From November 2013 to March 2022, we treated 207 patients with EVAR, including six patients with rupture.

Background And Aims: The Arctic tundra, with its extreme temperatures and short growing season, is evolutionarily young and harbours one of the most species-poor floras on Earth. Arctic species often show little phenotypic and genetic divergence across circumpolar ranges. However, strong intraspecific post-zygotic reproductive isolation (RI) in terms of hybrid sterility has frequently evolved within selfing Arctic species of the genus Draba.

Corynebacterium pseudotuberculosis Pneumonia in a Veterinary Student Infected During Laboratory Work.

We present a case of Corynebacterium pseudotuberculosis pneumonia in a veterinary student, with molecular genetic evidence of acquisition during laboratory work, an observation relevant for laboratory personnel working with C pseudotuberculosis isolates. The patient was clinically cured with 14 months trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole and rifampicin combination treatment.

Radiation knowledge and perception of referral practice among radiologists and radiographers compared with referring clinicians.

Objectives: To explore if the perception of radiologists and radiographers on referral practice differs from that of referring clinicians, and to see if knowledge of radiation issues and referral guidelines differ between these groups.

Methods: A questionnaire was handed out to 46 radiologists and 36 radiographers in Norway. Findings were compared to corresponding results from a similar already published study on clinicians.

Genetics of cryptic speciation within an Arctic mustard, Draba nivalis.

Crossing experiments indicate that hybrid sterility barriers frequently have developed within diploid, circumpolar plant species of the genus Draba. To gain insight into the rapid evolution of postzygotic reproductive isolation in this system, we augmented the linkage map of one of these species, D. nivalis, and searched for quantitative trait loci (QTLs) associated with reproductive isolation.

Background: Abdominal computed tomography (CT) is a frequently performed imaging procedure, resulting in considerable radiation doses to the patient population. Postprocessing filters are one of several dose reduction measures that might help to reduce radiation doses without loss of image quality.

Purpose: To assess and compare the effect of two- and three-dimensional (2D, 3D) non-linear adaptive filters on reduced dose abdominal CT images.

Allopolyploid origins of the Galeopsis tetraploids--revisiting Müntzing's classical textbook example using molecular tools.

Whole-genome duplication coupled with hybridization is of prime importance in plant evolution. Here we reinvestigate Müntzing's classical example of allopolyploid speciation; the first report of experimental synthesis of a naturally occurring allopolyploid species, Galeopsis tetrahit. Various molecular markers (cpDNA, NRPA2, amplified fragment length polymorphisms (AFLPs)) and flow cytometry were surveyed in population samples of subgenus Galeopsis, including two allopolyploid species and their potential diploid parents.

Clinicians' justification of imaging: do radiation issues play a role?

OBJECTIVE: To explore clinicians' knowledge and consideration of radiation, in relation to their referral practice and use of referral guidelines for imaging. METHODS: A questionnaire was handed out to 213 clinicians in Norway; all responded: 77 general practitioners, 71 hospital physicians and 65 non-physicians (55 manual physiotherapists, 10 chiropractors). Questions concerned weighting of radiation dose, guideline use, referrals unlikely to affect treatment, doses from imaging procedures, ranking of imaging as radiation source, and deterministic and stochastic effects.

Sterility barriers, ranging from incomplete to fully developed, were recently demonstrated within taxonomic species of the genus Draba, suggesting the existence of numerous, cryptic biological species. Because these taxa are predominately selfers and of Pleistocene origin, it was concluded that hybrid sterility evolved quickly and possibly by genetic drift. We wanted to explore the shift in modalities when diagnosing the gastrointestinal tract through the last three decades and see how this has influenced on the radiation doses given to this patient population. Activity reports from a central hospital in the years of 1979-2003 have been reviewed. The x-ray based modalities have decreased, while there has been a marked increase in colonoscopies, gastroscopies, ultrasound, and magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography.

High biological species diversity in the arctic flora.

The arctic flora is considered to be impoverished, but estimates of species diversity are based on morphological assessments, which may not provide accurate counts of biological species. Here we report on crossing relationships within three diploid circumpolar plant species in the genus Draba (Brassicaceae). Although 99% of parental individuals were fully fertile, the fertility of intraspecific crosses was surprisingly low.

Acute osteomyelitis as a complication of varicella.

Varicella is a common viral infection in childhood, and acute osteomyelitis is one of the rare but serious complications. We report two cases of osteomyelitis as a complication of varicella. The possibilities and limitations of the different imaging modalities are discussed, as well as imaging findings during the course of this condition.

The pharmacokinetics of sodium oxybate oral solution following acute and chronic administration to narcoleptic patients.

This trial was conducted to evaluate the pharmacokinetics and safety of a sodium oxybate (gamma-hydroxybutyrate [GHB]) oral solution in narcoleptic patients after acute and chronic treatment. An open-label, two-period, two-treatment study design was used. Trial subjects included 13 patients with polysomnographically confirmed narcolepsy.

The influence of gender and food on the pharmacokinetics of sodium oxybate oral solution in healthy subjects.

Sodium oxybate (Xyrem; gamma-hydroxybutyrate) oral solution was recently approved in the United States for the treatment of cataplexy in patients with narcolepsy. Two single-center, randomized, open-label studies in healthy volunteers receiving single oral 4.5-g doses of sodium oxybate evaluated effects of (1) gender on oxybate pharmacokinetics and (2) food on its oral bioavailability.
